Ruhiger Luxus auf einer Mallorquinischen Finca: Finca Serena
I often drive past the narrow country road that leads to Montuïri and think: here the island breathes. Finca Serena is not a noisy resort but a small refuge among fields of olive trees and cypresses — ideal if you want to escape the hustle. The property has only a few rooms; each feels like a private corner with natural linens, stone and plenty of daylight. Mornings the coffee on the terrace tastes better because you can hear the silence: bees in the lavender, the rustle of the pines. The spa is small but thoughtfully designed: sauna, hammam and a heated pool, plus evening yoga sessions under the open sky. The restaurant focuses on ingredients from the finca and the surrounding area; I once had a tomato-and-peach salad duo that was surprisingly light and tasted like summer. For a short weekend getaway the finca is perfect — close enough to Palma and the airport, but far enough to experience a real countryside holiday.

Finca Serena – The Property

From the outside the finca looks like an old house weathered by the Mallorcan sun, but inside surprisingly fresh. Around 40 hectares host olive trees, small vineyards and lavender fields; there are short walking paths you can find without a map. On my first visit an employee led me past an herb garden where I could touch young rosemary bushes — the scent stayed on my hands all day. The atmosphere is deliberately restrained: not a loud pool club, but scattered loungers, shady pergolas and a small infinity pool by the villa that invites you more to read and do nothing. In the evenings the paths are lit with warm light; you see neighbours strolling and sometimes hear soft guitar during a terrace dinner. The reception is friendly and personal, and the team always has tips for routes to the Sineu market or the best sunset in Montuïri. For weddings or small events there is a glasshouse that sits outside yet offers shelter; ideal if the weather turns unreliable. The mix of traditional stone, leisurely paths and modern details makes the finca a place where you often stay longer than planned.

Dining: Jacaranda and the Garden Produce

The on-site restaurant leans heavily on seasonal products, many coming straight from the finca's vegetable and herb garden. I remember a dinner with freshly grilled fish served alongside a cucumber-mint salsa from the garden: simple, clean, and quite good. Mornings are a clear plus for breakfast lovers — homemade yogurt, crisp bread and jam that tastes of summer. On Thursdays there is often a barbecue under the starry sky: slowly roasted meats, local vegetables and simple salads, accompanied by a mix of international and Mallorcan wines. The staff happily explains where each product comes from; that gives the food an honest story. For guests seeking light, healthy options the menu is very friendly: green salads, vegetable plates, light fish dishes. But there are also heartier options if you've had a long day of cycling or hiking. Service is attentive without being intrusive; often you sit outside on the terrace, hear the crickets and feel like you're dining at a friend's home.

Activities Around the Finca

The central location makes the finca a good base for activities: bike rides across the plain, morning walks on the edges of the Serra de Tramuntana and short drives to the villages of Montuïri and Sineu. I got up early and did a round before the heat set in — the roads are quiet, and you pass olive groves, scattered farmhouses and occasionally a herd of goats. For golfers several renowned courses are within a reasonable driving distance; the hotel arranges tee times and gives recommendations. Cyclists appreciate the hilly routes, which feel challenging but rewarding — there are also rentals and routes for different fitness levels. On-site spa and wellness offerings round off active days: a warm bath, a massage with local oils or an early evening yoga session. If the sea calls, the beaches on the east coast are reachable in under an hour; perfect for a day trip from the peaceful finca back to the coast.
