The Aerotib lines A11, A33, A43 and A51 now operate all year – earlier than expected, a real relief for many residents and commuters.
More buses, more comfort: Airport connections will continue in winter
Anyone who has stood at Palma airport early in the morning knows the scene: commuters, tourist groups with suitcases and a few sleepy locals sharing the bench. From next Saturday something decisive will change: the interurban lines that connect the airport with places like Calvià, Inca, Manacor, Alcúdia, Llucmajor and Campos will now run daily even in the low season.
What specifically changes
These are the lines A11, A33, A43 and A51. Each of these routes will in future offer between 26 and 38 trips per day, with frequencies of roughly one hour up to a maximum of 75 minutes. Practically: the first services already run between 04:15 and 04:40 towards the city, and the last departures from the airport are usually between 22:30 and 23:40. For early flyers and late arrivals this is a real advantage.
If you arrive on a rainy November morning via the toll-free MA-19 and don't necessarily want a taxi, you can rely on regular bus connections. And yes, this is not just a convenience for tourists — for workers in hospitality, care or retail it means planning reliability.
Why year-round now?
The authorities attribute this to the still noticeable influx of visitors in the cooler months. In recent years Mallorca has more often had travelers outside the high season: business travelers, long-term holidaymakers, families, and people who work here. That makes the change understandable. At the same time it slightly relieves the roads when fewer people rely on rental cars.
Of course there are questions: are the capacities sufficient in quiet hours? How are driver breaks and staffing handled? A small practical tip: buses are usually emptier at midday, evenings towards the airport can be fuller — so allow a few extra minutes if you need to catch a connecting flight.
What remains the same
The regular TIB lines that connect the intermodal station with many places remain, of course. The Aerotib connections complement this network rather than replace it. So if you start at Passeig Mallorca or the station in Palma, you will still get around the island well with the regional network.
If you're out and about this weekend: bring a light jacket — the coastal wind can bite at 10–14 °C in the mornings. I also observed a run at the terminal: punctual, calm, and an older lady who breathed a sigh of relief because she had caught the bus. Small scenes like that show: for many here good public transport is not just comfort but everyday life.
