When Chrome and Art Meet: Car Week 2025 in the Southwest of Mallorca

From the concours on the golf course to the art gallery on wheels: Car Week brings classics, art, and a touch of solidarity to Mallorca's southwest. A personal look at engines, people, and the project behind it.

When Chrome and Art Meet

It smells of wax and espresso, somewhere a camera clicks—and in the southwestern autumn bustle, classic cars, race cars, and design objects roll through Mallorca's streets. The Car Week, which runs until October 19, 2025, has once again set in motion a blend of show, rally, and culture. Those who stroll through Andratx in the morning see men and women lovingly polishing fenders, and children staring in wide-eyed wonder at a Jaguar E-Type.

Concours, Drives and a Gallery on Wheels

The highlight is the Concours d’Elegance on the grounds of Golf d’Andratx — a kind of beauty contest for cars. The judging starts around 11:00 a.m., admission is 10 euros per person; teenagers under 16 enter free. In addition there were outings this week such as the Russell Stevens Drive along narrow country roads and the Women's Art Drive, which took visitors to the Sa Bassa Blanca museum and featured a Maserati Ghibli on display at the Gerhardt Braun Gallery in Palma.

More than Just the Scent of Gasoline: Social Engagement

What stands out to me: The organizers couple glamour with responsibility. A portion of the proceeds is donated to local aid projects, specifically to the program that supports young families with food and baby supplies. Volunteers often pitch in themselves here — boxes are loaded, lists stamped, people with gloves sort donations. This is how the event works in practice, not just in PR copy.

Art on Wheels

The project Arte Sobre Ruedas brings galleries and vehicle designers together: cars serve as rolling canvases, some with bold colors, others with restrained lines. There are also dinners, small concerts, and gala evenings — not exactly cheap, but a real happening for design fans and collectors.

A small tip: Those who come early snag a spot on the fairway and see the cars in the morning light. Later it gets fuller, louder, and you have to expect parking routes — the locals navigate them with the typical shrug; a bit of patience is required.

Whether you're coming for the cars, the art, or the good cause: Car Week feels like a weekend when Mallorca's cosmos of style, street, and solidarity briefly comes together. And yes, somewhere in between there's always someone who loudly shouts Look at the exhaust! — and everyone laughs along.
