One Last Taste of Summer, Then Rain: Weather Shift Approaching Mallorca

👁 1973

In mid-November Mallorca experiences a short warm spell up to 26°C — but beware: clouds move in from Friday and more persistent rain is expected from Sunday.

A short sunny interlude – then it gets wetter

Anyone who grabbed a coffee on a terrace at Plaça Major in Palma this morning has probably noticed: for a few days Mallorca feels once more like late summer. Nationwide highs of around 24 °C are possible on Wednesday, and on Thursday thermometers in cities like Palma or Alcúdia could locally climb to 26 °C.

How long will the warmth last?

Not long, is the short answer. The national weather service Aemet expects the sunny interlude mainly for Wednesday and Thursday. Thin veils of cloud will at most disturb the perfect postcard scene, and anyone who now pulls swimwear out of the wardrobe is not entirely wrong — at least in sheltered coves.

You can feel the interplay on the streets: beach vendors are slowly packing up, while older locals are still strolling in T‑shirts — two days later many will likely reach for a jacket again.

Rain moving in: more unsettled from Friday

From Friday the clouds return. At first they thicken and bring local showers. Daytime values will fall but, according to the forecast, mostly remain between 20 and 24 °C. Saturday could bring some relief with sun and clouds, mostly dry — ideal for a shorter coastal stroll.

But the calm lasts only briefly: current models predict more persistent rainfall for Sunday. Precipitation may vary regionally — think Tramuntana versus the east of the island. Some model runs also show a possible cold snap next week — meaning temperatures could drop and feel noticeably fresher in the early mornings.

What does this mean for daily life?

Anyone who works outdoors or is planning small construction projects should have a plan B ready by Friday at the latest. Coastal tourist businesses will briefly benefit from guests wanting to make the most of the mild weather. And: packing shoe polish and sunglasses together is currently a sensible, if unusual, tip for mid-November.

In short: enjoy the last warm sunny hours of this week — and have a rain jacket ready. The island changes its mood quickly, as we know here.
