Palma is a beautiful city with a rich and vibrant history that is evident in its stunning architecture and lively atmosphere. It is also home to some of the best neighborhoods in Spain. Whether you are looking for a new place to call home, or just want to get to know the city better, these three fabulous neighborhoods of Palma are a must-see.
La Seu (Old Town)
Palma's Old Town is a captivating destination: a historic jumble of ancient alleyways, churches and picturesque houses, with winding cobblestone streets and a vibrant local atmosphere. It is a must-see area for anyone enjoying a trip to the beautiful city of Palma.
In the centuries-old streets of La Seu (Old Town) you will find a vibrant mix of ancient churches, small squares with outdoor cafes, stately manor houses, plus stores, restaurants and markets smeared with the colors of Mediterranean architecture. This narrow Balearic quarter offers Palma's tourists a taste of true Mediterranean culture.
The area surrounding the old city walls is another must-see and a stunning example of Mediterranean architecture. Many of the city's historic mansions have been declared "Bienes de Interés Cultural" by the Spanish Central Government. Today, some of them are open and attractive locations for hotels, fashion boutiques, art galleries and excellent restaurants. Among the places worth visiting in this area is La Llotja, an old stock and merchandise trade whose building has been declared an Asset of Cultural Interest.

Santa Catalina
Bordered by a spectacular urban canyon and located just 2.5 kilometers (1.6 miles) south of the historic city center, it is home to many local residents, businesses and hidden treasures.
The district was founded in the 13th century, and many of its streets are still flanked by small Spanish-style houses, many of which are preserved from the original layout. The cobblestone alleys, colorful murals and community-oriented stores evoke a bygone era and stir visitors' nostalgia.
However, Santa Catalina retains its youthful exuberance. Its market, a multifaceted place of vendors, restaurants, bars and music, allows locals and visitors to explore its culture and cuisine from every angle. This market also provides an up-close look at the area's creative art and delicious gastronomic offerings, as well as its exciting nightlife.
One of the most attractive features of the neighborhood is its proximity to a wealth of cultural and recreational venues. Its central location provides easy access to various galleries and museums, the beautiful Playa de Palma and the lively Las Ramblas promenade.
Portixol
Portixol is tucked away on the Mediterranean coast of Mallorca, an island in Spain. It is a charming fishing village with a stunning promenade, small stores and cafes, and impressive houses by the sea.
Surrounded by a stunning mountainous backdrop, calm, crystal clear waters and lush palm trees, Portixol is the perfect place to escape to. The promenade is full of life, with people strolling and exploring the small stores and restaurants. The whitewashed buildings house family restaurants and stores selling local produce, handicrafts and souvenirs.
In the evening, the city becomes even more magical. After sunset, the spectacular views of the Mediterranean are illuminated by the twinkling lights of boats and a clear night sky. It is a truly romantic setting.
