Marco Asensio, the star player from Mallorca who has made a name for himself at Real Madrid, is reportedly set to not renew his contract with the Spanish powerhouse. The 27-year-old offensive midfielder, who has spent seven seasons with "Los Blancos," appears to be setting his sights on England. Asensio, who was born in Calvià, has had a successful career at Real Madrid, appearing in 284 matches and scoring 61 goals. Now, it seems that he's drawn the attention of the English Premier League, with Aston Villa rumoured to be particularly interested in acquiring his talents. According to speculation, the decision not to renew his contract is linked to Asensio's wage demands. The Madrid team is reportedly keen to maintain his current salary – around five million euros per season – in the event of a contract extension. However, the financially powerful clubs of the English league appear ready to offer more to secure the services of the Mallorcan player. Should he depart, Asensio would leave Real Madrid with an impressive list of accolades. During his time with the team, he's won three Champions League titles, four Club World Cups, three Spanish championships, and one Spanish Cup1.
