History and Culture
Magaluf's history and culture are as vibrant as its nightlife. The resort, almost entirely purpose-built for holidays, is famous as a destination for young Brits seeking hedonistic experiences. The nightlife is a riot of bars and nightclubs vying for the attention of holidaymakers who often let their hair down amid the bright lights and enticing cocktail offers. However, Magaluf is more than just its party image. A wave of change is gradually sweeping across the resort.
In recent years, Magaluf has seen significant investment. Melia Hotels International, a Mallorcan hotel group, along with the local community and other private companies, has initiated a five-year plan to gradually upgrade Magaluf and restore its status as a top holiday destination. Gabriel Escarrer, the CEO of the group, spoke about the 'Calvià Beach' project in an interview with abcMallorca, expressing their commitment to support Mallorca and halt the accelerating decline of a once top resort.

Security
Despite its reputation, Magaluf is a safe place with a strong police presence. It offers numerous attractions for families and boasts a large sandy beach - Playa de Magaluf, which overlooks the small island of Illa de Sa Porrassa. Most of the action is concentrated near the beach, with many waterfront bars and restaurants, and a strip of predominantly British venues, takeaway spots, and shops. The resort offers a wide range of amenities that cater well to the largely English-speaking residents and visitors.

Living in Magaluf
Living in Magaluf is an experience in itself. The town is home to many British residents, although it's not as popular as the nearby resorts of Palma Nova and Santa Ponsa. The town is quiet in winter, with many shops, bars, and restaurants closing from October to Easter. However, its excellent location, easy access to the motorway, and proximity to Palma (just a 15-minute drive) make it an attractive place to live.
Property prices in Magaluf are relatively low for the southwest, but availability is limited. Most properties cost less than 500,000 euros, with studios starting at a mere 60,000 euros. The property market mainly consists of small villas and a variety of apartments.
