If you're traveling in the west of Mallorca and feel like an unpretentious yet carefully run harbor restaurant, Club de Vela in Port d'Andratx is a safe choice. It's located on one of the livelier corners of the harbor, with views of the boats and the low hills behind them. The interior is rather modern and straightforward — no kitsch, but plenty of space and a bar where guests often gather before or after meals. The terrace is the real plus: in summer it's the first place to catch a gentle breeze, while in autumn and spring it offers clear views of the sunset when the weather cooperates. The kitchen mixes familiar Mediterranean classics with a few international touches; there is fish of the day, paella and a fair lunch menu that works well for a quick but proper meal. The atmosphere is relaxed, sometimes busy at weekends — so be sure to book if you want to eat there on a sunny Saturday. Small practical details: the staff often speak English and German, you can smoke outside, and prices are in the mid-harbor range. For me, Club de Vela is a place I return to again and again because the combination of location, kitchen standards and easygoing vibe simply fits.
Club de Vela – Restaurant on the harbor
Club de Vela sits on Avda. Gabriel Roca, directly on the water, and has exactly the profile you expect from a large harbor restaurant: a generous terrace, a well-kept interior and space for bigger groups. In recent years the management has focused on consistency — in my experience the staff are local, experienced and know regulars by name. On my first visit I like to order the paella (with lobster or seafood), because the portions are large enough to share and the rice often has that slight browning on the bottom that I personally love. At midday the restaurant offers a menu at a reasonable price, often consisting of three courses: starter, main (fish or meat) and dessert. Wine list? Good enough to find something local without breaking the bank. Practical: the kitchen is open enough to watch the chefs prepare the catch of the day, and the waitstaff are happy to recommend the day's specialty. If you come with children there is plenty of room and a relaxed atmosphere; for romantic dates I would reserve a table at the edge of the terrace, away from the speakers. Small tip: in late autumn it's wise to bring a light jacket — the wind by the water can get surprisingly cool even when the sun is shining.
