Dining by the Water: Stay Restaurant in Port de Pollença

A dependable favorite on the Moll of Port de Pollença: a carefully priced three‑course menu, fresh fish and a terrace you keep coming back to.

Essen am Wasser: Stay Restaurant in Port de Pollença
I have spent many evenings on the Moll of Port de Pollença, but Stay is one of those places I enjoy returning to. Under the same management for decades, the venue was transformed in 2006 into an airy, modern house: large windows, a terrace almost over the water and tables from which you can watch the harbour. The daily three‑course set (usually around €36) is dependable: four starters to choose from, three main courses and a changing dessert, plus a glass of wine, water and an espresso with homemade pralines. There is also an extensive menu of seafood dishes – Mallorcan prawns, grilled fish and occasionally a generous lobster caldereta. Small snacks and tapas are served in the afternoon, handy if you want something warm after the beach. The service is friendly, speaks English, Spanish and German, and the portions are sized so you leave full but not sluggish. My tip: book for early evening and bring a jacket – the wind comes in quickly when the sun goes down.

Stay Restaurant – Moll Nou, right on the water

Stay is located practically at the end of the Moll (Moll Nou s/n) and is easy to find whether you walk from a hotel or arrive by car. Phone numbers can change occasionally, but the website remains the most reliable contact point: www.stayrestaurant.com. Opening hours are generous: often from 12:30 pm until about 10:30 pm, and in high summer it can be later. Staff speak Spanish, English and German; booking is especially recommended on long summer evenings. Parking at the harbour is limited; alternatively look for a short spot in a side street or come by bike – that’s practical in Pollença anyway. The terrace is my favourite spot: it catches the sea breeze, has an unobstructed view of the boats and is perfect for sundowners. Inside, large glass panes dominate and help keep the atmosphere warm on windy days. Overall it’s an uncomplicated place that reliably serves good portions and a relaxed evening by the water.

Food, recommendations and drinks

The daily set menu at Stay is dependable and good value: around €36 for three courses that usually include a choice of four starters, three mains and a rotating dessert, plus a glass of wine, water and coffee. There is also a full menu focused on seafood – Mallorcan prawns, grilled fish and sometimes a rich lobster caldereta. Small afternoon snacks and tapas are available, useful after a day at the beach. The staff can advise on wines and daily specials; portions are generous enough to leave satisfied without feeling overfull.

Terrace, atmosphere and best time to visit

The terrace is a major part of the appeal: you sit close to the water line, hear the waves and can watch the sailboats. The best time is just before and during sunset when the light is soft and the promenade is lively but not overcrowded. In spring and autumn evenings are mild; then I recommend booking a table for around 7:30 pm. In high summer later times are more comfortable but also louder and fuller. Wind can pick up in the evening – a light jacket is advisable. Inside, the atmosphere is calm and friendly, with large windows that don’t obstruct the view. Families, couples and solo diners mix; it’s not a fancy spot but a reliable, relaxed harbour-side restaurant.

Practical information and booking tips

Booking is sensible, especially on weekends in July and August. For groups there are often predefined menus; if you want a specific fish dish, mention it when booking so the kitchen can plan. Price: the lunch/dinner set is about €36 including wine, water and coffee – fair for location and quality. Children’s dishes are available, and small plates or tapas work well for families. Walk‑ins may have luck in the low season; in high season it’s better to call ahead. Getting there: parking at the harbour is limited; alternatives are parking behind the promenade or a short walk from town. Current information and menus are available on the website, and the staff answer questions by phone or email.
