DURAN – Baustoffe und Wohnlösungen auf Mallorca
When planning a larger renovation project in Mallorca, it's often hard to avoid DURAN. I've been there several times—first to look at tiles, later for a new kitchen—and each time I found something useful, whether a particular finish for floor tiles or a clever interior for a wardrobe. The company combines traditional building materials with modern living solutions: tiles, sanitaryware, electrical supplies, and also complete kitchen and furniture collections. What I like: the advisors take their time, show samples at original scale and give honest advice when something doesn't fit the budget or the planned aesthetic. It's also practical that several centers are spread across the island, usually with easy access and decent parking—a real plus when you have samples or plans in the trunk. In this guide I've gathered the most important points: the large showrooms, the made-to-measure cabinet systems, how material and project consultations work and exactly where the branches are. Plus a few tips to make the visit efficient (appointments are recommended; Friday afternoons are often busy).

DURAN main showroom Palma – Son Fondo

The showroom in Palma, in the Son Fondo area, is my first stop when I have concrete ideas. You notice it at the parking lot: space isn't a luxury; often you can drive up and unload samples directly. Inside there's a calm, practically arranged atmosphere: display areas with kitchen fronts, tile ranges and bathroom installations are set up realistically — you can immediately see how a sample works in a room. The staff are craft-oriented; questions about installation details, uneven joints or material thickness are rarely answered with clichés. My tip: bring a floor plan and, if possible, photos of the room. Then advisors can much faster suggest suitable modules or tile ranges. For kitchen planning you can often book an appointment; the project is then checked with measurements and simple 3D sketches are discussed. What I personally appreciated was the honest approach to prices. There are standard solutions but also made-to-measure cabinets that need to be quoted. Packaging samples and small test pieces give a realistic sense of color and texture — be sure to take them and check at home in daylight. Opening hours and current collections change seasonally; calling shortly beforehand saves time. And if you need to transport a lot: ask about delivery options; DURAN delivers some items themselves or arranges partner companies.
