DURAN – Baustoffe & Wohnideen auf Mallorca
I visited DURAN in Palma for several projects and appreciate the mix of practical range and good ideas. If you plan a bathroom or kitchen, you’ll find tiles, sanitaryware, fittings, electrical items and even furniture — all under one roof. Advice is often personal: you meet experienced sales staff who prefer to propose solutions rather than just point to catalog pages. I especially like that you can take material samples and that the showrooms display real installations. For larger renovations I skip searching many shops and go straight to DURAN: it’s central, has clear opening hours and usually parking in front. Tip: appointments for kitchen planning are most relaxed weekday mornings, when you have the most time with consultants without rush. For expats it’s convenient that staff speak Spanish, English and German, so misunderstandings are rare.

DURAN Palma Center – Son Fondo

The main store in Son Fondo is my first stop when things need to move quickly. Address, opening hours and well-stocked shelves have saved several of my renovations. The display area shows complete kitchen units, full-size floor and wall tiles and a small sanitary section. I like that you can immediately see how a combination of wood tones and tiles looks — that avoids debates at home. Staff take their time, measure (or explain how to measure correctly) and give practical tips on delivery times. If you plan a larger order, book a consultation: they prepare measurements and material samples and explain delivery options and on-site measuring.

Custom cabinets and walk-in wardrobes

One area I particularly value is the custom cabinet solutions. Consultants show systems from well-known manufacturers and explain modular options: soft-close drawers, clothes lifts, drawer inserts and interior lighting. For tight spaces they have clever solutions like sliding doors or divided interior elements. I planned a dressing room myself; the combination of neutral fronts and warm internal panels works well without feeling bulky. Before ordering, always note exact measurements and usage habits — that saves rework.

Showrooms, parking & appointments

Showrooms are spread across the island (Palma, Santa Ponça, Alcúdia and Santanyí) with generous parking, which is practical when transporting samples. Opening hours are customer-friendly; for detailed kitchen or storage planning I recommend booking in the morning. If you arrive by public transport, call ahead — some branches are easier to reach by car. Small note: on market days parking can be tricky, so leave five minutes earlier. And yes, staff speak German, English and Spanish, which makes arrangements much easier.
