Ruhiger Luxus im Herzen Mallorcas: Finca Serena
I often drive past the Ma-3200 and every time the small driveway to Finca Serena draws me in – especially on a quiet spring morning when the jacarandas are in bloom. On 40 hectares of olive trees, lavender fields and small vineyards the hotel feels more like private land than a resort. The 25 rooms and suites are understated, with natural materials and lots of daylight; the Egyptian cotton beds are really as comfortable as they say. The Único Spa is my personal retreat: a warm pool, a sauna and occasionally a yoga class on the terrace. In the evenings I recommend the long table on the pool terrace, where the "Barbecue under the stars" often takes place – preferably with a glass of Mallorcan red wine and freshly grilled fish. Practical: Palma is only 30 minutes away, the airport around 20 minutes. For me, Finca Serena is the place where time moves more slowly and you can easily combine nature, good food and true tranquillity.

Finca Serena – Arrive and Breathe

The drive to the finca begins inconspicuously, then opens up into a world of stone walls, cypresses and lavender fields. At check-in you immediately sense that tranquillity is the rule here: nobody rushes, the reception feels more like a friendly living room. Some buildings date back to the 13th century; the modern interior respects this history without kitsch. I love the small details: handwritten menu cards, herbs from the on-site garden and the evening lights along the paths. Finca Serena is adults-only and therefore perfect for a peaceful short break or an extended weekend to recharge. The elegant orangery is used for special occasions – I once attended a small wedding there and the atmosphere was relaxed and lovely. Parking is available, and those who wish can rent an e-bike to explore the surroundings.

Dining at Restaurant Jacaranda

Restaurant Jacaranda makes extensive use of its own vegetable and herb garden; you can taste the difference. The menu changes seasonally, and in the evenings there is often a menu of lighter Mediterranean dishes: grilled cuttlefish, vegetable ragout with island herbs or an excellent, slightly earthy almond cream for dessert. Thursdays are barbecue nights under the stars – a local favourite, casual and full of good cheer. The wine list focuses on small Mallorcan producers and a few international bottles; the sommelier is happy to help with selections. For breakfast they serve fresh juices, homemade bread and scrambled eggs with wild herbs.

Activities & Surroundings

The central location makes excursions easy: Montuïri is just 10 minutes away, a charming village with a weekly market, or you can reach Playa de Muro in 40 minutes if you feel like the sea. Cyclists appreciate the quiet country roads around Ses Comunes de Petra and the steeper climbs towards Sa Serra. Three golf courses (Alcanada, Son Gual, Son Muntaner) are within a short drive; green fee agreements are often available. If you like culture, plan half a day in Palma – the cathedral is popular, but in the late afternoon it feels less crowded and particularly beautiful.

Practical tips for your stay

Arriving is easy: the airport is about 20 minutes away; I would recommend renting a car. Pack light layers — evenings can be surprisingly cool, especially in spring. Book spa treatments and the barbecue through reception, otherwise the best times are quickly fully booked. For restaurants outside the finca I recommend Sineu on market day or small bars in Montuïri. And: leave the car at night — the walking paths on the grounds are perfect for evening strolls.
