Palma has an energy that concentrates in its galleries: old stone walls, bright inner courtyards and surprisingly young art. I like to set out without a plan, stop at a café, ask about current shows and suddenly end up in a tiny room with a new favorite piece. The city mixes international names and local artists, from experimental projects to small, carefully curated sales. Mid-September becomes especially lively during Nit de l'Art, when many venues stay open late. My tip: combine a loop around Paseo Borne with a detour into the side streets around Can Verí and Porta Santa Catalina — you'll see works that are easy to overlook otherwise. This list collects places I visit often myself, with practical details and a touch of personal recommendation.
Gallery RED (Plaza Frederic Chopin)
Gallery RED feels like a little bit of shine in Palma's city center: several rooms, rotating shows and occasionally prominent names that come up in conversation. I like to pause here briefly and watch the mix of pop art and contemporary artists. The gallery is conveniently located at Plaza Frederic Chopin, and you can take a walk to Paseo Borne afterwards. During special openings it's busy, so try to come early in the evening while the champagne is still fresh. If you browse on Saturdays you often meet collectors from the island community — a good time to start a conversation. Gallery RED works a lot with hotels and private collectors, which you can tell from the quality of the hangings and the curated series. For collectors: ask about the private showrooms, where pieces not shown publicly are often hung. And yes, the Paris branch has caused some talk, but in Palma the place remains surprisingly down-to-earth and accessible.

Casal Solleric (Cultural centre on Paseo Borne)
Casal Solleric is a calm counterpoint to the shopping street: a former town house with cool rooms and rotating exhibitions. I like to go there when I need distance from the street hustle — the small patio is also suitable for short concerts or readings. The exhibitions are often thematic and showcase works by both established and up-and-coming artists. Admission is frequently free, but watch out for special formats and workshops. For families: there are regular child-friendly activities, so it's perfect if you want to experience art with the whole crew.
Tube Contemporary Gallery (Pere Garau)
Tube Contemporary is located a little off the beaten path in the Pere Garau neighborhood and is still easy to reach. The space is bright, with large walls, ideal for painting and photography. Since opening, a small community has formed here: collectors, younger artists and gallerists who like to discuss. The language is multicultural — often English, Spanish and sometimes German are spoken. I especially appreciate the open evenings when new series are presented and you can speak directly with the artists. Tip: combine the visit with a market trip in Pere Garau to get a sense of Palma's everyday life.
