Il Paradiso – Italian food with sea views in Marivent
A favorite spot in Marivent: a large terrace with sea views, an opulent dining room for cooler months and artisanal pasta you won't forget.

I visited Il Paradiso on a mild summer evening with a simple expectation: good, unpretentious Italian food with a view of the bay. The place sits directly on the road to the Marivent coast, barely ten minutes from Palma's center. The terrace is large enough that you don't feel like you're sitting on the lap of the next table, and in the evening a pastel-pink sunset turns the bay into a postcard. Inside, the restaurant is noticeably more formal: high ceilings, ornamental stucco and round windows that immediately evoke old seafaring houses — it's the kind of place where you'd happily open a bottle of good Italian wine even in November. The menu focuses on classics without frills, with a clear emphasis on pasta and a few well-chosen meat and fish dishes. The wine list is mainly Italian; the staff speak English, Spanish and German — handy if you have guests who aren't fluent in Spanish. My advice: book a table by the sea and order the linguine with prawns.
Il Paradiso – Restaurant & terrace in Marivent
Arrival: Il Paradiso sits in a distinctive old building on Avinguda de Joan Miró, clearly visible between residential blocks and the drive up to the palace grounds. If you're lucky, you'll get a spot at the edge of the terrace with a view of the bay — my personal favorite for sunset. Service & languages: You are usually greeted by an attentive maître who speaks fluent English; German and Spanish are also no problem. Ambience: Inside, the room surprises with high, oval, stucco-framed windows and somewhat plush upholstery. The terrace is decidedly more casual, with elegant wooden tables and a view over Cala Mayor. Food: The kitchen delivers what it promises: fresh seafood, well-seasoned antipasti and, as a true flagship, the pasta. I recommend starting with a mixed starter plate with burrata, salted tomatoes, homemade bread and a small prawn cocktail; everything tastes clean and without excessive seasoning. For main courses the pasta dishes convinced me most: especially the linguine with prawns, cherry tomatoes and artichokes in a slightly creamy sauce — here you can tell the kitchen cooks to the point. Meat lovers will be happy with a well-seared beef fillet or a tender rack of lamb; sides like saffron risotto or truffle potatoes are solid accompaniments. Dessert: homemade mascarpone ice cream on apple compote, plus a small tiramisu to share. Wine: The list is organized around Italian wines, from simple country wines to well-known names; price range from moderate to high. Practical notes: Booking is advisable, especially on weekends and in high summer. There are occasional lunch menus; prices are in the mid-range for Palma. Don’t be put off by the formal interior — outside is casual, inside a good spot for dinner in autumn or winter. Website and address: Avinguda de Joan Miró, 243, Palma.

Interior: Oval dining room and winter atmosphere
Inside, Il Paradiso is more a place to linger. The oval dining room with high ceilings, dark wood accents and traditional wall tiles feels confident, almost homely. On cooler days this is the right choice: it's quiet, softly lit and comfortable to sit in. For special occasions or if you want to escape the heat, it's a charming alternative to the terrace.
Visitor tips & reservations
Best time: Sunset on the terrace (around 18:30–20:30 in summer) is magical, so book early. Money tip: lunch menus or pasta dishes are often cheaper than the evening offer. Dress code: smart-casual — no one expects a tie, but trainers are rather inappropriate in the interior. Contact: The website lists current opening hours; calling to reserve gives assurance, especially if you come with a group.
