La Hacienda – das gemütliche Steakhouse in Paguera
When I think of La Hacienda, I picture a somewhat rustic but warm room in Paguera — exactly what you want after a long day at the beach or the first autumn rain. The restaurant is run by Germans; many guests are regulars: Spaniards, residents and returning holidaymakers mix at the tables. Inside it is dim and cozy in winter; in summer the generous terrace fills up and is used late into the evening. The salad buffet is notably good: a practical, honest station from which you assemble your starter — and that is included with the main courses. La Hacienda is clearly a steakhouse, with two main options: Argentine beef (more affordable) or Dakota beef from the USA (small surcharge). Side dishes are classic: fries or baked potato with sour cream and chives — a big dollop of happiness, I would say. The staff speak German, English and Spanish; the menu remains uncomplicated. For a quieter experience I recommend booking a table in advance, especially on summer weekends. A local tip: try a small glass of Mallorcan red wine with it — it goes surprisingly well.

La Hacienda Steakhouse (Paguera)

La Hacienda is located on Calle Pau Casals, close to Paguera beach, and at first glance feels like a spacious, rustic inn. The owners are German-speaking, which is a plus for many residents and German tourists; still, you immediately feel welcome as a Spaniard as well. Inside, warm lighting and wooden decor create a cosy atmosphere — in winter it feels pleasantly homely. My favourite spot is the small nook to the right of the entrance, where you can watch conversations at other tables without being intrusive. In summer the large terrace attracts guests: families, couples, day-trippers and sometimes cycling groups stopping after a tour. The menu is straightforward and does what it should: very good steaks. The concept is simple but well thought-out: almost every main course includes access to the salad buffet, from crisp arugula to homemade vinaigrette, which takes the pressure off deciding. For steaks they offer Argentine beef as the standard option, and for a small surcharge Dakota beef from the USA — both arrive at the table regularly perfectly cooked. As a side I recommend the baked potato with a generous dollop of sour cream and chives (yes, it is as good as it sounds). For vegetarians there are some vegetable sides, but the meat remains the main attraction. A personal tip: reserve on weekends or be prepared to wait; the atmosphere is familial and lively, not sterile. To finish: a small homemade dessert and an espresso round off the meal.

Meat choice: Argentine vs Dakota

Two main options: Argentine beef (slightly cheaper, very flavorful) or Dakota beef (a few euros surcharge, more robust flavor). Doneness levels are reliably executed here.
