Meine Lieblingscafés in Palma – ein persönlicher Führer
When I go to Palma, I automatically plan a few coffee stops — sometimes more than museums. The city has that lovely mix of centuries-old chocolaterías, relaxed neighborhood cafés and young specialty roasteries. I like cafés that don't pretend: good coffee, friendly baristas, a bit of atmosphere and, if possible, a spot in the sun. In this list you'll find places where locals have breakfast, where you can work well (yes, with stable Wi‑Fi), and a few real classics that make you feel like you're taking a little trip back in time. Weekend tip: arrive early — the best croissants and brioches often sell out quickly. And in summer: definitely try the almond granizados or a cold brew tonic. Enjoy discovering them; take your time, order something sweet and watch the city.

La Molienda — the roastery with a neighborhood feel

La Molienda feels like a friend who keeps a spot for you at the window. There are two small shops in Palma; my favorite is tucked away in a quiet plaza near La Rambla. The owners roast the beans on the island, so the espresso here always has a slightly nutty note; the baristas know their machines and are happy to talk about the beans' origins. The breakfast menu changes seasonally: avocado toast with local olive oil, homemade banana bread (quickly sold out at weekends) and a daily changing lunch special. I like to sit at a wooden table, watch the neighborhood and order a flat white — creamy, not too hot. For remote workers: the smaller shop is cosy, the larger one at Arxiduc has more tables and reliable Wi‑Fi. Small tip: after 11 it gets busy, so come in the morning if you want peace.

Can Joan de s'Aigo — traditional café and Mallorcan classics

Arabay — roaster and coffee culture in one

Arabay combines workshop charm with a clear focus on the product. The roastery a little outside town is impressive, but I especially like the small shop next to the Mercat de l’Olivar: ideal for a quick coffee before visiting the market. The baristas are happy to explain preparation methods — from filter to cortado — and you can tell that origin and processing of the beans matter. Try the cold brew tonic on warm days or a classic cortado if you prefer something gentler. They also offer simple, well-made sandwiches and fine pastries. For people who care about the craft behind their coffee, Arabay is a must.

SĀNTAL and other hidden spots in Santa Catalina

Santa Catalina is my favorite area for a relaxed coffee stop, and SĀNTAL is almost a secret tip there: a café under old windmill walls with a small patio, perfect for reading or people‑watching. Plants, warm stone walls and a quiet patio create that pleasant mix of old and new. Besides SĀNTAL there are small bakeries and independent cafés that often offer seasonal juices and vegan options. In spring I like to sit outside; in autumn I enjoy the muted light indoors. Tip: combine a stroll through the market with a stop at one of these small cafés — fresh coffee and a piece of cake will give you energy for the rest of the day.
