A personal guide to my favorite spots in northeast Mallorca — from relaxed beach venues to Michelin experiences. Practical tips included.

The northeast of Mallorca feels to me like a Sunday outing that never gets boring. Between Alcanada, Alcúdia, Canyamel and Capdepera, small beach bars, family-run taverns and several Michelin addresses alternate. I prefer to go in late spring or autumn: the air is clear, the terraces are quieter and the potatoes and paella taste more intense. What is special here is that the sea is almost always part of the menu — not only as an ingredient but as a view. Two rules I've learned: always reserve and ask for the best light for photos (a big plus at sunset). For special occasions I save up for VORO or Fusion19; for casual enjoyment there are small fish restaurants where you can eat with sand on your feet. In this guide I name concrete places, say what I order, and give practical notes on opening times, parking and the best seat choice. Not long critiques, rather honest recommendations so your meal lands well.
Alcanada – quiet cove and sea views
Alcanada is one of those places where the sound of the sea makes you instinctively slow down. The small restaurant on the bay has a narrow terrace from which you can see the lighthouse and the golf island. I like to order a cold gazpacho as a starter and fried squid rings with it — simple, clean and very Mallorcan. Tip: plan your visit for late afternoon when the heat eases; the few parking spaces fill up quickly, so leave 15 minutes earlier. If you're after peace, sit on the left side of the terrace — less wind and the best view of the boats.
Alcúdia & Port d'Alcúdia – old town charm meets the harbor
Alcúdia and Port d'Alcúdia offer a blend of old-town charm and a working harbor atmosphere. Cobblestone streets, historic walls and a lively port make for a varied dining scene: from traditional tapas in the old town to seafood by the marina. Tip: wander the narrow streets for small family-run places, and expect the waterfront restaurants to be busier in the evening. Reservations are recommended for popular spots, especially on weekends.
Canyamel & Capdepera – Michelin stars, cliffs and hotel cuisine
In Canyamel and Capdepera dining often becomes an occasion. VORO (with two stars) is the destination for special evenings: a long tasting where you should allow yourself to be surprised. Likewise, cliffside restaurants like Can Simoneta combine local products and sea views. My tip: inform them in advance about allergies and allow enough time — a menu there easily lasts three hours. For relaxed luxury, Melbeach or the hotel restaurant with direct beach access are good choices: during the day a lighter menu, evenings feature elevated seafood.
Playa de Muro & Can Picafort – beach vibes and beach clubs
Playa de Muro is ideal if you want to combine beach and food. Nu Mallorca Beach Club is my favorite for a late lunch: sushi, ceviche and even vegan options are on the menu, along with laid-back music and chill sunbeds. For families there are classic beach bars with paella to share — perfect between 1 and 4 pm. If you prefer livelier spots, look for the beach clubs at sunset; they fill up fast, so reserve early. Small note: prices are higher in high season, but here you pay for the view.
