November on Mallorca is like a familiar friend who unexpectedly stays a little longer. The summer heat is gone, the days are cooler but often sunny — perfect for walks along the coast without crowds or for a coffee with a mountain view. In Palma the alleys are quieter, galleries and cafés are easier to discover, and the island breathes: less traffic, more the rustle of leaves. If you like, bring thick tights and a light jacket; in the evenings a scarf is often enough. November is also harvest time: markets offer fresh olive oil, mushrooms and honey, and many villages celebrate with music and stalls. Bike rides are more pleasant than in high summer, the Tramuntana shows its colours, and small hotels lower their prices. For me the charm of the month lies in small things: a steaming café con leche after a hike, the warmth of a restaurant terrace that attracts locals rather than tour groups. In short: Mallorca in November is cozy, pleasantly surprising and very doable — perfect for a genuine island week.
Weather, clothing and packing tips
In November Mallorca’s weather can vary, but overall it stays mild. Typical daytime temperatures range between about 12 and 18 °C, with occasional showers and on average around five hours of sunshine per day. That means layers are your best friend. I always bring a light down jacket for mornings and evenings, a thin raincoat and at least two warm jumpers. Comfortable hiking shoes are a must — the trails in the Tramuntana can get slippery after rain. For café visits or terrace evenings a small blanket or scarf comes in handy: many cafés have heaters, but they don’t warm every corner equally.
Practical: pack a foldable umbrella and a few synthetic base layers that dry quickly. Most people forget sunscreen in autumn, yet the sun is strong enough to pose risks. If you plan to climb Puig de Maria in Pollença, start in the morning: the visibility is often clearer then and temperatures are more pleasant. One more tip: bring a reusable water bottle — there are springs and drinking fountains on the way, especially in villages.

Festivals, markets and village life
November is festival time on the island, but without the tourist crowds. Inca, for example, traditionally fills up for regional markets, and the olive fair in Caimari revolves around oil and flavor — ideal if you want to meet local producers. The mushroom markets in places like Mancor de la Vall offer autumn specialties: fresh mushrooms, dried varieties and often a simple paella or bread with mushrooms cooked on site. In Llubí I once camped at the honey market and came home with three small jars: rosemary honey, blossom honey and a strong variety that pairs perfectly with goat cheese.
On the second weekend of the month it’s worth visiting the wine fair in Palma — small bodegas present their vintages, with lots of music and a relaxed atmosphere. The best thing about these events is that you end up talking with locals: vendors, farmers, musicians. Pack good shoes, a cloth bag for cheese and olive oil and be ready to swap small tasting portions. The atmosphere is usually warm and genuine, not staged for tourists.
Palma at night: food, tapas and culture
Palma in November feels like a city that is breathing again. In the evenings terraces are less crowded, tapas bars have space and in Santa Catalina or La Lonja you’ll find a table more easily. Mid‑November often hosts the TaPalma Tapas Festival — a good chance to try many bars in short distances without getting lost. I recommend doing the tour in small groups: you’ll taste more and there’s less arguing over the last patatas bravas.
For culture lovers the galleries in Palma are more relaxed now, openings happen more often and the museums are emptier. A short walk along Passeig del Born at sunset is a must; the city lights start to glow then. Later, a digestif in a bar with heaters and blankets — that is autumn in the city. If you’re looking for a restaurant, book in advance, especially on weekends: the best places are small, family-run and fill up quickly.
Short practical notes
Arrival: Many flights run year‑round, but check schedules — in winter there are fewer night connections. Rental cars are practical, especially to reach villages and beaches. Opening hours: many small shops close at midday; plan shopping for the morning. Money: card payment works almost everywhere, but on markets cash is king. Finally: enjoy the quiet. Mallorca in November slows the pace and opens your eyes to details — flowers on windowsills, a market stall, an old farmhouse with smoke from the chimney.
