Mallorca has in recent years established itself not only as a sun destination but also as a serious food destination. In 2026 several restaurants shine with Michelin stars – from coastal gems with sea views to small, family-run houses inland. If you plan to eat here, you should plan ahead: many places are booked months in advance, more so at weekends than during the week. I recommend briefly checking the menus beforehand, clearly communicating allergies and consulting the sommeliers for wine choices – they often know winemakers accessible to only a few guests.
Sustainability is also striking: several places carry the Green Star for their commitment to regional ingredients, waste reduction and seasonal menu concepts. That makes the visit not only tasty but also responsible. In this guide I present four establishments that suit different occasions – a two-star venue for special evenings, a family-run place on the coast, a well-known spot in Palma and a surprising tasting menu in Muro. I'll be honest: prices are high, but the experience is worth it if you combine it with the right mood – a walk before dinner, good timing and no rush. Enjoy planning and buon appetito.
VORO – Canyamel (2 Michelin stars)
VORO in Canyamel is the place I book for a truly special evening when we have guests or it's a birthday. Two Michelin stars naturally create expectations, and Álvaro Salazar meets them with a style that is both precise and free-spirited. The menu usually features a large tasting menu – I've experienced between 18 and 22 courses here – which takes time. Plan at least three hours, preferably four.
The interior is calm, not overly ornate, and focused on the plates. A sommelier guides you through an impressive wine list; if you are open to recommendations, you rarely go wrong. Locality matters: fish from the nearby area, vegetables from producers in the island's interior, and occasionally a surprising import that complements the menu. My tip: ask for the course with fermented flavours – it often delivers the biggest surprise.
Practical: VORO is located at the Cap Vermell Grand Hotel; parking is available, but the lot fills quickly. Reserve in good time, at least two weeks in advance during high season. If you want to extend the evening, you can take a walk on the small nearby beach or visit the hotel's bar – both nicely round off the night. Dress code? Smart-casual is entirely sufficient. Prices are high, but the portions are structured so that it's less about filling up and more about a culinary experience.
