Mallorca is a place where celebrations often take place outdoors, with olive trees, old stone houses and a breeze that can suddenly make the tablecloths restless. That's precisely why you shouldn't leave catering to chance. In this text I share practical advice I've gathered at several events on the island: how to find the right caterer, how much lead time you need, which venues are typical and why a tasting is more valuable than you might think.
In short: decide on style and guest numbers first, then request offers. Small receptions can often be organized at short notice, larger weddings need buffers. Consider local specialties like roasted lamb, paella or vegan alternatives with fresh island vegetables. And yes, build in buffers for weather, deliveries and technical items (music, lighting). In the end the goal is that you as hosts can celebrate relaxed — for that it's worth hiring professionals, having clear agreements and a good menu tasting.
Mallorca Eventküche – Full-service catering
Mallorca Eventküche is one of several local catering options I repeatedly recommend for events — not because it is perfect, but because it works flexibly and honestly. They offer classic buffets, plated menus and live stations: on-site paella, a whole roast lamb with rosemary potatoes or a Mediterranean tapas bar that stays open late. What I like: they create menu proposals based on budget and taste, but set everything up so that you as hosts don't have to keep asking questions.
For smaller private events (20–50 guests) they often need two to three weeks' lead time; for weddings and events over 100 guests they recommend at least six months of planning — that way desired venues and suppliers remain available. Crockery, tents, seating and a small tech crew can be booked directly; that saves nerves. They also organise tastings in their small kitchen — three to four dishes, wine pairing and honest feedback from the chefs. A tip from me: ask for sample portions in the evening (for a small fee), so you can match the taste with the location's ambience.
The Eventküche likes to collaborate with local winemakers from Binissalem or Pla i Llevant, which you notice in the wine pairings: the wines are often cheaper and fit the island cuisine better. Vegetarian and vegan menus are not an afterthought but are composed independently. If you plan an outdoor event, talk specifically about insect protection, lighting and heating options for winter — this is often only considered at the last minute, and it has a noticeable impact on mood and comfort.
