Holidays in Mallorca are often quieter than the bustle of a big city, but the culinary offerings are all the more warm-hearted. When the lights in Palma come on and the Tramuntana mountains grow colder, hotels and restaurants open special menus: classic Mallorcan dishes, festive multi-course meals and creative tapas combinations. Over the past years I've experienced small family dinners in familiar local spots as well as large corporate celebrations in unusual venues — both work if you book in time. Pay attention to included drinks, children's options and start times (between 19:00 and 21:30 are common). Some places offer overnight packages with relaxing spa access, handy if the return journey is long. In this guide I present four recommendations: a cozy hotel package, a masked New Year's Eve night, a classic country-hotel experience and a selection of Palma's restaurants with festive menus. No long advertorials, just honest notes on where atmosphere, food and service come together — and what you should ask about beforehand (allergies, group discounts, children's meals).
Christmas hotel package: El Llorenç Boutique Hotel
El Llorenç is the kind of place where on Christmas Eve the fire in the fireplace flickers and breakfast on the 25th is served at a leisurely pace. Many opt for the overnight package including access to the small wellness area Ç Wellness Studio and the festive menu in the URBÀ restaurant. On the menu: roasted loup de mer, confit duck and a take on Mallorcan turrón for dessert. Practical: early check-ins and shuttle information are often confirmed by email. Tip: if you're coming with children, ask about the children's or family menu and book a room with a terrace — mornings are fresh and the nearby bay is quiet.
Masquerade ball on New Year's Eve: Can Bordoy Grand House & Garden
El Llorenç is the kind of place where on Christmas Eve the fire in the fireplace flickers and breakfast on the 25th is served at a leisurely pace. Festive country-house holidays: Grand Hotel Son Net
On the edge of the Tramuntana, the Grand Hotel Son Net offers a quieter but festive alternative. The program ranges from a vineyard tour to a guided hike and even a Great-Gatsby–inspired New Year's Eve ball. Restaurant Mar&Duix emphasizes regional products: cod with Mallorca's olive oil, braised beef and lighter dessert options. The large salons are ideal for families, the private dinner nooks for couples. Keep in mind: guided activities have limited places, so sign up before arrival.
Palma's scene: Restaurants with Christmas and New Year's menus
In Palma the options are varied – from small tapas bars to stylish hotel restaurants. Many places publish special holiday menus (3–6 courses) with a price per person that may or may not include drinks. Good venues offer flexible seatings: early family times and later gala dinners. Personal tip: call and ask about the exact course sequence, whether tables can be set next to each other and what the parking/departure situation is. If you're hosting a larger team, ask about group packages; some kitchens prepare private buffets or tailored menus for companies. And one more tip: avoid December 26th, as many restaurants close or staff change.
