Mallorca im November: ruhige Strände, frische Spaziergänge und Märkte
I've been coming to the island every November for years, and each time I'm surprised by how different Mallorca feels in autumn. The beaches are quiet, the air is clear, and the sun sits lower — perfect conditions for walks by the sea or short hikes in the Tramuntana. Temperatures usually range between 12 and 18 °C; mornings can be cool; a light jacket and a scarf are often enough. This month is very much about local products: olives, mushrooms, honey and wine are celebrated in the villages. Markets like the one in Inca or the olive fair in Caimari are a great destination if you want crafts, cheese and fresh bread. Palma has less tourist bustle, but more room for galleries, an espresso in a small bar and watching the locals. If you want to be active: bike paths and hiking trails are free, and the colours in the mountains are surprisingly rich. Pack rubber boots for uncertain days, but don't forget sunglasses — the weather often changes over the course of the day. Overall, November is for me the best time to experience Mallorca without hurry.

Palma on a November morning

A November morning in Palma feels different: the promenade is emptier, cafés slowly fill with neighbours rather than tourists. I like to have my first café con leche at the Plaça de Cort around 9 a.m., when the bakery is just pulling its first loaf from the oven. The cathedral looks almost austere in the soft light; an hour later school is out and the city comes back to life. For galleries and small shops this is the best time — you can wander the lanes without crowds and discover craft shops that are usually in the shade in summer.

Village and harvest markets in November

November is market time: Inca's Dijous Bo (or what happens on market weeks) offers solid products from shoes to homemade sobrasada. Caimari celebrates the olive with tastings and demonstrations, while Llubí showcases honey and handmade sweets. On such days it's best to arrive early — by 10 a.m. the stalls are at their liveliest. Bring a shopping bag, taste the cheese before buying and ask for recommendations for the best oils or mushroom dishes; vendors are happy to tell you how the products were made.

Cafés, bodegas and cozy meals

When it gets cooler, many meals move to cafés with heat lamps or to small bodegas. I like places that serve simple, honest dishes: plates with dried fish, potatoes with sobrasada, or a hearty lentil soup. In the evenings village bars are lively — locals meet to share a glass of wine. Good times: lunch around 13:30–15:00 and dinner rather late, after 20:30. Tip: always ask for the daily special; it is often seasonal and fresh.
