When I think of MOMBO, I imagine a mix of urban flair and familiar cuisine. Arriving on the Paseo Mallorca you notice immediately: this is not about grand splendor, but about precise, well-made dishes and a relaxed yet elegant atmosphere. The open kitchen area is an invitation to watch the staff compose the plates, and it's usually the understated simplicity that defines the restaurant — good music, attentive service and those surprising flavors. The menu changes with the seasons; from seared scallops with a light sauce to rice dishes offered at midday that often serve as the unrecognized stars. For me MOMBO is a place you choose both for a quick business meal and for a cozy dinner. Small groups like to sit at the bar, couples outside on the pavement when the weather allows. Conclusion: Anyone in Palma looking for modern, Mediterranean cuisine that does without frills yet still sparks curiosity should reserve a table here.
MOMBO – City bistro on the Paseo Mallorca
MOMBO sits unassumingly on one of Palma's busier avenues, yet the visit immediately feels personal. The kitchen is led by Gabriel Conti — a chef with Brazilian roots who brings experience from Barcelona without showing off. Inside it's softly lit, with jazz or soul playing in the background, and the open kitchen gives you the feeling of sitting right in the middle of the action. The menu often features small, thoughtful dishes: pan-fried venus and razor clams with a fresh beetroot salad, grilled artichokes with porcini mushrooms and a creamy foie gras cream that surprisingly feels light. Once I ordered a pan-fried halibut fillet in the Santurce style — juicy, with a reduced sauce that doesn't overpower but complements. The bar seats are perfect if you want to watch how the plates are put together; outside is ideal for people-watching and to slowly start the evening. Service and timing, in my experience, are consistently good: not too intrusive, but present. For weekend or summer reservations I'd call early — it's a popular meeting place for locals and visitors looking for something different from the usual tourist spots in Palma.
