MORE Mallorca Weihnachts‑Pop‑Up auf Finca Son Mir
If you’re on Mallorca during Advent and looking for genuine, handmade gifts, the MORE Mallorca Pop‑Up at Finca Son Mir is a great plan. On 13 and 14 December the gates open from 11:00 to 21:00 and you’ll find more than 45 stalls offering fashion, jewelry, ceramics, regional foods and small works of art. It feels like a relaxed, stylish country market: olive trees, old stone walls, warm string lights and people contentedly picking at plates of tapas. Fosh Catering provides the culinary offerings — think well-made tapas, winter breads and a few more unusual things to try. My tip: don’t arrive right at opening time; come between 11:30 and 13:00 to avoid the biggest crowds and still meet some of the makers. Tickets are cheap in advance (€5) or at the gate (€7.50); children up to 15 are free. Parking is limited and the drive from Palma takes about ten minutes; if you like, combine the visit with a walk through the finca’s gardens. Dogs are unfortunately not allowed, but there is a deliberate focus on local producers and sustainability.

Finca Son Mir – the place

Finca Son Mir is one of those places you might underestimate on a grey December day and then end up falling for by the time you leave. The estate atmosphere is present in the old stones, the palms and the paths that wind between tended beds and small squares. The address (Camí Vell de Sineu, Km. 7,250) is easy to find, and from Palma it takes about ten minutes — ideal if you want to get out of the city quickly without a long drive. For events like the MORE Mallorca Pop‑Up the grounds are brought to life with string lights and market stalls; you wander over gravel paths, browse the booths and pause in corners where musicians add a gentle note. Practical things to note on site: there are several small seating areas where you can rest briefly (handy if you’re carrying a cup of mulled wine or a small plate). Toilets are available, but during busy times there can be a short wait — so allow a few extra minutes. The finca has narrow access lanes in places, so drive slowly and follow any attendants’ directions. If you arrive outside peak hours you often find a nice spot under a pine tree from which you can take in the scene: families, locals, designers with their pieces and cooks preparing the next bite. I especially like the combination of rustic charm and a consciously curated offering — it never feels overloaded, more carefully selected.

Food & Fosh Catering

Food is a big part of the event: Fosh Catering has created the gastronomic concept, and you can tell from the range. Don’t expect haute cuisine, but do expect thoughtful, tasty small dishes that are perfect for a market visit: hearty tapas, warm sweet treats, perhaps an original sandwich with Mallorcan ingredients and seasonal vegetable combinations. Coffee lovers will also find good espresso‑style options in the morning. At previous summer and winter events I’ve found little surprises — a winter stew in a jar, an unusual jam or a handmade chutney that makes a great gift. If you arrive hungry you can gather at the standing tables; portion sizes are chosen so you can try several things without feeling overstuffed. And yes: there are vegetarian and often vegan options that are thoughtfully composed rather than an afterthought.

Sustainability and social engagement

One point I appreciated: MORE Mallorca places value on responsibility. A portion of the proceeds (about 10%) is donated to local conservation projects — a small but visible way to link the event to a good cause. The selection of exhibitors often favors local producers and artisanal makers — this reduces long transport routes and supports the island’s economy. On site you'll also see signs for waste separation and often reusable packaging at the food stands. If you want to shop consciously, ask about the origin of products, talk to the makers and, if possible, bring your own bags. That way the market visit becomes a small but real contribution to the island.
