Palma College – Sixth Form mitten in Palma
I know Palma College a bit firsthand because I have friends whose children lived there for the past two years. It is a compact, English-speaking sixth form in the middle of Palma, ideal for 16- to 18-year-olds seeking a clear route to university or into the professional world. Classes take place in small groups (maximum 12 students), which makes the difference: teachers have time for one-to-one meetings, weekly tutorials and real feedback — not just grades. Lessons usually run from about 09:00 to 17:00 with fixed and flexible study phases; this trains self-organisation, which is truly needed at university. The programme combines traditional A-Levels with practical BTEC subjects such as Sports or Travel & Tourism. There is also an enrichment programme: practical short courses (First Aid, Mandarin, video editing), guest lecturers and mentoring. The current address is Carrer Can Verí, close to the cathedral; from September 2026 a modern campus with laboratories, a theatre and sports facilities is planned. For families from outside the area, a host-family boarding option will start. If you are looking for a focused, international environment but not a huge school community, a visit is worthwhile — preferably in the afternoon when the small cafeteria is full of student projects.

What makes Palma College special

What sets the college apart is the mix of very personal support and an international atmosphere. In a room with 10–12 students per class, the teacher knows not only names but also strengths and areas to improve. Parents appreciate the weekly one-to-one tutorials: short, concrete goal agreements that can be tracked over months. Teaching is entirely in English; admission to international universities is taken very seriously, but there are also practical routes such as BTEC and support for apprenticeships. In my experience this kind of structure leads to better study habits: fixed hours, independent study phases and an enrichment week where students work on projects.
