Can Estades is one of those favourite places you hardly want to announce loudly: a restored 16th-century finca just above the village of Calvià, where the slopes gently turn into olive groves. The owners have deliberately avoided mass tourism – 12 rooms, many with their own terrace, natural stone walls and furniture that tell stories. In the mornings it smells of freshly baked bread and strong coffee; often you sit on the main terrace and watch a handful of robins argue. There is a generous pool with small hydromassage areas, an outdoor hot tub and a sauna in the adjacent building. For guests who want to stay longer, a few rooms have a kitchenette. Bicycles are free for stays of three nights or more, and the team is happy to suggest walks, horse-riding trips or a hot-air balloon flight. Children under 12 are not permitted, which gives the place a particularly peaceful character. If you are looking for peace, rural character and still want to be at the sea within 15–20 minutes, Can Estades is a very good choice.

The finca has 12 individually furnished rooms, from cosy double rooms of around 30 m² to spacious suites over 50 m². Many rooms preserve original details: thick stone walls, wooden beams and antique wardrobes, combined with modern amenities such as air conditioning, safe and fast Wi‑Fi. My recommendation: the suite with its own terrace — coffee outside in the morning, silence and starlight in the evening. ‘La Petite’ is practical and secluded, ideal for couples who like it intimate. Some rooms have a small kitchenette, which I appreciated even on stays of three to four nights: a trip to the market, a glass of wine, and you eat on your own balcony. The beds are comfortable, the bathrooms bright and functional; you will sometimes find local ceramics and larger rain showers. Families with young children should note: the house does not accept children under 12. Check‑in is usually in the afternoon, check‑out in the morning — perfect if you want one last swim before continuing to explore the island. Insider tip: rooms on the west side usually offer the best sunsets over the groves.

Location & Surroundings

Can Estades is situated on a gentle hillside in the foothills of the Serra de Tramuntana, just a few minutes from Calvià village centre and about 12–20 minutes’ drive to the beaches of the south coast. Mondays there is a market in Calvià — perfect for fresh ingredients. For day trips, the port of Portals Vells and the walking paths around the Tramuntana are recommended. If you have a car, Palma is reachable in about 20 minutes.

Practical Information

The hotel staff speak English, Spanish and German. Check‑in from 14:00, check‑out by 11:00. Children under 12 are not allowed. For longer stays, rooms with a kitchenette are worthwhile. If you seek quiet, consider travelling outside the main holiday season — May, early June or September are ideal.
