When you drive to Portocolom, Sa Llotja immediately catches the eye: located on the upper floor of the harbor office building, with a wooden terrace facing the village and the boats. I visited on a mild September evening — blankets were ready, the wind played with the sails, and the light on the water was exactly as you secretly hope for. The restaurant sits on the first floor, has about 45 indoor seats and a noticeably larger terrace outside. In summer the midday opening hours are different, so it’s better to call ahead; in some weeks the set lunch menu is the most economical option (a three-course set that changes regularly). The kitchen works a lot with local fish, but there are surprising, almost familiar touches you might not expect. The service is friendly and usually speaks English, Spanish and German. My tip: seats at the edge of the terrace for the view of the village and the boats, especially at sunset. It’s worth reserving on weekends — and bring a jacket in case the evening gets colder.
Terrace, views & atmosphere
The terrace at Sa Llotja is the restaurant’s centerpiece and the reason many people return. On the generous wooden platform sit families, couples and locals watching the comings and goings in the small harbor. There are seats along the railing from which you can overlook the old village of Portocolom, count the small fishing boats and see the orange evening light fall on the water. On cooler nights thick wool blankets are offered; I received one and found it surprisingly cozy — especially on an October evening when the wind got fresh. Midday the atmosphere is more relaxed, with lighter dishes and a shorter menu; in the evening the clientele becomes a bit dressier, but never stiff. Tables are not placed tightly together; wood and natural tones dominate, creating a relaxed, unforced atmosphere. Practical: the location in the harbor office building means you can stroll along the pier on foot after dinner. If you like fresh fish, ask for the catch of the day — deliveries often come directly from the bay. For sunset seats on weekends a reservation is advisable; to be safe I confirmed the booking by phone and got a more precise tip on which spot offers the best view. The combination of simple elegance, the smell of the sea and the sound of the boats is exactly what makes Sa Llotja special.

When to go: opening hours and season
Sa Llotja is seasonal: in high summer midday breaks are possible, while at other times it may be open continuously. Best months for quiet evenings are May, September and October. Weekends are livelier; if you want sun, come a little earlier.
Practical information & reservations
Address: C/ Pescadores s/n, Portocolom. Phone and website are useful to secure a table. Staff speak Spanish, English and German. A torch or shoes with less sand are handy if you plan to stroll along the pier after eating.
