Son Terrassa: Ein gemütliches Landhotel in Cas Concos
I’ve been happy to visit Cas Concos for a few years, and for me Son Terrassa is the place where the bustle of the coast disappears. The hotel is a few minutes outside the village center, nestled among olive groves and small hills — ideal if you seek peace but still want to be within striking distance of cafés and galleries. There are only nine rooms, and that is exactly what makes the difference: you feel more like a friend visiting than a guest in an anonymous hotel. Wooden ceilings, natural stone walls and light textiles create the classic Mallorcan feeling without becoming musty. The garden is its own little ecosystem: orange and fig trees, herb beds, beehives (seasonal) and a handful of tables where breakfast is served in the morning. A bonus for families: a small children’s pool and a larger swimming pool with a jacuzzi, so parents can read while the little ones splash. The mood is relaxed; the staff usually speak English and Spanish — sometimes German — and are happy to give tips for trips to Felanitx or to secluded coves on the east coast.

Son Terrassa Rural Hotel – basics and atmosphere

Son Terrassa feels like a small country house with returning guests. It has nine rooms and a carefully chosen interior: exposed wooden beams, white linen curtains, warm lamps and exposed natural stone in some bathrooms. The reception is friendly and informal; guests are often greeted personally and receive tips for walks into the village or to the Felanitx market (Tuesdays). Breakfast is simple but honest: bread from the local baker, homemade jams — sometimes made with oranges from the hotel’s own garden — cheese, cured ham and freshly squeezed orange juice. In the evenings the house occasionally offers a small seasonal menu; it’s worth reserving in advance. Prices are moderate for this area, and many guests say the atmosphere is worth more than a few euros saved elsewhere. Practicalities: access via the Carretera Cas Concos–Felanitx (around km 10), small parking spaces on site. Reception languages: Spanish and English; occasionally German. For hikes the staff recommend maps of the surroundings; cyclists can arrange bike rentals. The hotel is perfect for couples and offers enough space and safe corners for families — without a large kids’ club, but with plenty of room to run.

The garden and the food: fresh and local

Son Terrassa really feels like a small country house with regular guests. There are nine rooms and a curated interior: visible wooden beams, white linen curtains, warm lighting and exposed natural stone in some bathrooms. The welcome is friendly and informal; guests often receive personal greetings and tips for walks into the village or to the weekly market in Felanitx (Tuesdays). Breakfast is straightforward but sincere: bread from the local baker, homemade jams —sometimes made with oranges from the hotel garden—, cheese, cured meats and freshly squeezed orange juice. In the evenings the house sometimes serves a small menu of seasonal dishes; booking ahead is recommended. Prices are moderate for the area, and many visitors value the atmosphere more than saving a few euros elsewhere. Practical information: access via the Carretera Cas Concos–Felanitx (about km 10), small parking spaces at the property. Reception languages: Spanish and English; occasionally German. For walks the staff can provide maps; cyclists can arrange bike hire. The place suits couples well and also provides enough space and safe corners for families — without a big kids’ club, but with lots of freedom to play.

Families, children and pools – how relaxed is it really?

Son Terrassa is surprisingly family-friendly, even though it’s not a traditional family resort with organized activities. There is a small children’s pool (shallow, ideal for toddlers) and a larger swimming pool for adults, beside a warm whirlpool that is popular on cooler evenings. Pool loungers are plentiful and towels are provided. The atmosphere tends to be calm rather than noisy: parents read while children play, creating a pleasant balance. If you have a baby, bring your own gear, as high chairs or children’s cutlery are not always available in every suite — just ask in advance. The hotel can arrange babysitting on request or recommend a local babysitter if you want a quiet evening in the village. For family outings the location is practical: short drives to beaches with shallow water or to the nearby Santueri Castle provide variety. Note: in high season it can be livelier — those seeking absolute quiet should book the calmer months (October–May).

Rooms, junior suites and private terraces

The rooms vary in layout, some with small private terraces and others facing the garden. Junior suites are more spacious, often with a separate seating area and sometimes a view toward the mountains. The décor stays simple: light walls, natural materials, comfortable beds and occasional antique pieces from Mallorcan farmhouses. I recommend asking for a room with a terrace at booking — having coffee there early in the morning and looking over a small valley is a lovely way to start the day. In cooler months heating and thicker blankets provide coziness; in hot summer nights there are fans and air conditioning in most rooms. Practical notes: check‑in usually from 15:00, check‑out by 11:00 — flexible times sometimes possible. For longer stays the owners offer discounts, especially outside high season. If you value absolute silence, request a room facing the inner courtyard; if you prefer a view, book a junior suite.
