Mallorca's fragile industrial base explained

Mallorca's industry accounts for only around 7% of employment and about 5.2% of gross value added, with manufacturing contributing roughly 2.5%. Since 2018, the secondary sector has declined while productivity has fallen, and most firms are small, facing costs, logistics challenges, and a shortage of skilled workers. This combination leaves the industrial base vulnerable and limited in growth.
