In Port d’Alcúdia, a woman was seriously injured in a knife attack. A 49-year-old man is in custody, and investigations are ongoing.
Serious injuries after attack in Port d’Alcúdia
\nOn Friday evening, around 7:30 pm, residents along the coast of Port d’Alcúdia were awakened by screams. In an apartment near the promenade, a violent incident occurred: a 49-year-old woman was apparently wounded with a knife in the neck area and was admitted to a hospital. The injuries are described as serious but stable.
\nSuspect brought before the investigating judge
\nThe alleged perpetrator, also 49, was detained by the Guardia Civil later the same evening. After a brief appearance before the police, he was presented to the examining magistrate. There the accused refused to make any statement and was taken into custody pending investigation.
\nPolice and public prosecutors have taken over the investigations. According to officials, inquiries focus initially on the sequence of events, motive, and the exact role of other persons – whether there were witnesses in the apartment or passers-by neighbors. Forensic investigations were on site for several hours.
\nNeighbors and mood on site
\nDuring my brief walk down the street on Saturday morning, the scent of the sea lingered, and the wind blew sharply from the bay. A corner café was unusually empty; regulars murmured that such incidents are rare here. 'You don\'t hear anything normal anymore when something like this happens', said a woman who has lived on the promenade for years.
\nThe relatives of the victims have been informed and are under care, according to the police. For victim protection reasons, names and further details are being withheld.
\nWhat is important now
\nThe investigations continue. Witness statements, technical traces and medical reports are to clarify how the act occurred. The authorities urge the public not to spread speculation and to forward tips directly to the investigating authorities.
\nFor residents for the time being: heightened vigilance, but no panic. Such cases are rare, but in small communities they are felt particularly strongly. The authorities emphasize that the arrest of the suspect was aimed at preventing further dangers from him.
\nIf you saw something or can provide information, please contact the Guardia Civil in Alcúdia. Even the smallest observation can be important for the investigation.
