Multiple cars collide: MA-13 heading toward Palma blocked
On Thursday morning, around 11:30 a.m., a crash occurred on the MA-13 between Inca and Palma: three vehicles collided, causing traffic to back up for many kilometers. Those traveling the stretch later recalled the usual murmur of honking, bumpers, and a bit of panicked radio chatter from the emergency services.
What happened
According to initial information, slow-moving traffic created a backlog. A delivery van (a Mercedes Vito) apparently could not brake in time and slid into a VW Golf, which in turn was pushed into another vehicle. In total three cars were involved; two occupants were injured, one of them seriously.
An eyewitness, taxi driver Miguel from Inca, later said: I was almost at a standstill, and then I heard a crash. The woman in the Golf looked very distressed, her legs trembled. Such impressions lingerâno matter how routine the responders' work.
Emergency services on site
Guardia Civil, Mallorca Fire Department, and the SAMU 061 ambulance service were quickly on the scene. Debris were cleared by the fire department, police took over traffic control. One injured person was transported by ambulance to Son Espases University Hospital and admitted in critical condition.
Alcohol tests among those involved yielded no positive results, according to the police. Traces were secured on site and the accident scene documentedâa routine procedure that unfolds minute by minute after such a crash.
Impact for commuters and holidaymakers
The MA-13 remained only partially passable toward Palma for an extended period. Commuters heading to the city center reported that the queue did not dissipate until early afternoon. Those in a hurry sought alternative routes via country roadsâand congested traffic there as well.
Our advice to anyone who regularly uses the MA-13: plan buffer zones, keep distance, and check for changes in routing. A traffic jam is annoying; an accident can change lives.
