Reaching Cala Mitjana is part of the adventure. A partly dirt road off the main road, marked with signs for Cala Mitjana, leads you to the beach. Free parking is available along this main road, from where you continue on foot to the beach. Please note that the beach is not wheelchair accessible and can be challenging for disabled visitors and small children. It is not recommended for boat moorings due to its shallow and rocky base. During the peak summer months, there may be a lifeguard on duty, and the water conditions are always well marked with flags. Artá is just a few kilometres further down the road from Capdepera and is the biggest town on the east side of Mallorca. Despite increasing tourism, it remains rather traditional and low-key. One of the main attractions in Artá is the Santuari de Sant Salvador, a fortified church that dates back to the 14th century, though much of it was renovated in the 19th century. There is a rich historical past to Artá that makes for a great day of sightseeing. For a beach day with water sports and souvenir shops, head to nearby Cala Ratjada, which is one of the most popular beach destinations for tourists and particularly for families in the summer months.
