More space to the island: Eurowings brings 'Premium BIZ Seat' to some Mallorca aircraft

Wider seats, leg rest and a small service difference – what travelers can expect from December

Walking through Son Sant Joan on a hot August afternoon — the thermometer in Palma reads 33°C, rolling suitcases hum, taxi drivers shout — two things stand out: many travelers want more space and a bit of normality on board. The product is called 'Premium BIZ Seat' and comes from the Italian seat manufacturer Geven (model: Comoda).

Concrete changes: In the affected aircraft the previous 18 seats in the first two rows will be replaced by eight more generous seats. The upgrade brings a more reclining backrest, a wider seat surface, significantly more legroom and an adjustable leg rest. Practical details such as USB charging ports are added as well — anyone who needs to top up their phone at the gate knows the feeling.

Eurowings supplements the extra space with a small onboard service: passengers in the premium area receive a welcome drink, a refreshing towel and nuts when boarding. These extras are intended to reinforce the feeling that this is a somewhat quieter and more comfortable zone — not at business-class level, but a noticeable step up for short- and medium-haul flights.

Important for holidaymakers and commuters: the offering also applies to routes to Mallorca. Deployment is also planned on flights to Málaga, London Heathrow and Dubai. Those who choose the BIZclass fare will have the Premium BIZ Seat already included — a starting fare is indicated from €199.99.

The rollout follows a trial run that took place in November 2025 on the Berlin–Dubai route. According to internal feedback, the concept was well received there: travelers appreciated the gain in space and the service concept. For Mallorca this means more options for those who value a quieter travel experience or want to make longer segments more comfortable.

What does this mean in practice when you sit on the Paseo Marítimo in the morning waiting for departure? More seat width means less shoulder contact with your neighbor, more legroom makes getting up for connecting flights easier, and a fold-out leg rest is unexpectedly pleasant on the way home — especially after a long beach day in Cala Mayor. The December 1 start date allows enough lead time until the autumn holidays are over and the island moves into a quieter season — time for a more relaxed flight season, many commuters and hosts hope.
