Is the traffic plan sufficient for the solar eclipse? A reality check for Mallorca

Answer

When do the traffic restrictions take effect around Mallorca for the eclipse, and where will they be most noticeable?

General restrictions run from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with Playa de Palma measures already in place from 8:00 a.m., and Santa Ponça applying parts of the plan from August 11. About 20 road sections will be affected, spanning from Algaida (Randa) through Sóller to Valldemossa. The official observation site is Son Matamoros in Felanitx, where up to 800 vehicles will be admitted; totality is expected around 8:31 p.m. and lasts roughly 1.5 minutes.
