Monkeypox often starts with flu-like symptoms, followed one to five days later by skin changes such as pustules or scabs. If you develop a suspicious rash, especially after close contact with someone who may be infected, it makes sense to seek medical advice and ask about testing. A person is generally considered recovered once all scabs have healed.
