Why Mallorca’s path access dispute is growing

The conflict comes from the overlap between traditional footpaths, private property and the daily reality of farms, homes and hikers sharing the same landscape. Landowners want more control over access, while walkers and conservation groups fear losing routes that have been used for years. The debate is especially sensitive in Mallorca because the Tramuntana is a key hiking area with very limited public land.
