Chaos over vacation rental numbers: Who's right — Madrid or the Consell?
Why small Mallorca landlords face more pressure over rental rules
Small Mallorca landlords often struggle with registration rules and are more likely to be flagged.
Published: April 22, 2026
Answer
Why are small holiday rental owners in Mallorca affected more often?
Small landlords often have fewer resources to deal with changing paperwork, online systems and language barriers. Larger operators can usually automate registration and compliance, while individual owners may fall behind even when they are trying to operate legally. That can leave them more exposed to being flagged in official checks.
