From March to mid-November twice weekly from Münster/Osnabrück to Palma – tickets already bookable

Those who want to stretch the summer a little longer or decide at short notice to head to the sea over the Easter weekend will have more choice from 2027: the German airline Leav will regularly fly from Münster/Osnabrück (FMO) to Palma de Mallorca. The new frequency is visible: from 20 March the aircraft are scheduled to depart on Thursdays and Sundays, and the service runs into the second half of November.

Changes like this become apparent quickly on the tarmac at Son Sant Joan. Taxi drivers in front of the arrivals hall who count the flow of suitcases in the morning, and the baristas on Passeig Mallorca who start picking up more German conversations again — these are the small signs when new flight connections bring more people to the island. For business travelers from northwest Germany, families with school holidays and short-break visitors the time window opens up new possibilities: two connections per week mean more flexibility when planning.

An Airbus A320 with 180 seats will continue to be used, and the aircraft will remain based at the airport. Leav, headquartered in Cologne, was founded in 2020 and began scheduled operations in May 2022. The company offers both scheduled and charter services and tries to stand out with some unconventional details — one often-mentioned example: cabin crew wearing sneakers instead of high heels.

Practical for planners: the flights are already available and can be booked via the official website leav.com. Travelers should pay attention to baggage rules and possible schedule changes when booking; especially for returnees to Mallorca the additional connections can be relaxing because they offer alternatives to already full flights.

For Mallorca the offering is not just a tourism question. Extended seasons spread demand beyond the high summer period and distribute guests over more months — this helps hotels and restaurants in less crowded times. At the same time service providers at the airport and in the surrounding area benefit, from the car rental desk to the small guesthouse in Portixol, when arrival times are more evenly distributed through the week.

Of course it remains to be seen how stable the new service will be across the entire season. But it is already noticeable: on Plaça d'Espanya and in small cafés on Avenida Jaime III more people are talking about weekends on the island, and the anticipation is real. A Mallorca weekend in spring? With the new Thursday and Sunday connections planning becomes easier — and for locals there is a new wave of guests who visit the island also outside the July peaks.

Early bookers can benefit from lower prices, and those who work locally or have relatives on the mainland gain connections that make travel less tightly scheduled.
