The singer Marc Terenzi has opened a new Giovanni L. Gelato Deluxe branch in El Molinar. Pistachio, Dubai chocolate, and occasionally himself behind the counter.
New ice-cream parlor on the promenade: A familiar face now serves scoops
When strolling through El Molinar late in the evening, one often smells freshly roasted hazelnuts and cream. This does not come from nowhere: directly on the small promenade, just a few steps from the marina, Marc Terenzi has opened another location of his Giovanni L. Gelato Deluxe chain. I stopped by briefly on opening night â around 7:30 p.m., the sun was just disappearing behind the masts, and outside a mixed queue formed of tourists and locals.
Whatâs on offer and what it costs
The menu reads quite classic, but with a few fancy twists: a multiple award-winning pistachio variant, a dark-melting 'Dubai' chocolate, and some fruit ice creams that really work on hot days. Those who value quality notice it from the first bite. The scoops here cost between 3 and 4 euros â not cheap, but apparently worth the weekend for many.
The owner in the front row
On his social media stories, Terenzi showed the new shop, spoke directly to the camera, and looked content. He occasionally stands personally behind the counter, distributes samples and chats with guests â for locals always a nice extra. Not a staged show, but more like someone who explains his project and enjoys selling a portion.
The little ice-empire already has branches on the Paseo MarĂtimo, in Palma's Old Town and in La Lonja. The new station in El Molinar fits in well: a quiet neighborhood, sea air and enough foot traffic. For the neighborhood, of course the usual applies â more choice also means more activity in the evenings.
More than just a business
His life on Mallorca was reorganized at the end of 2024. After professional lows and a breakup in the summer of 2024, he moved to the island and worked on his health. A stay in a clinic in Berlin, which he later spoke about openly, was part of that. On the island he now focuses on work, sport and apparently on ice â a mix that probably suits him well.
Whether you're a fan or not: for El Molinar the new ice-cream shop provides a small energy boost. On warm evenings locals and guests stand side by side and discuss the best scoop. And if youâre bold enough at checkout to ask: 'Are you behind the machine today?', you might get a short chat for free.
