Night on Mallorca: Some areas down to 10°C – autumn is knocking

From cool mountain valleys to mild coastal nights: the island experienced temperature swings from 10 to 22 degrees. For many, restful sleep at last.

Autumn Feelings at Night: Mallorca Cools Considerably

The night into Tuesday brought noticeable variation on the island: while the Tramuntana grew quite chilly, the coastal areas remained mild. If you were at the bakery in Palma this morning, weather was the first topic of small talk—and the relieved sigh that the fans could stay off.

Between Mountain Chill and Coastal Warmth

AEMET reported minimum values that vary regionally: only 10 degrees were registered in Son Torrella, around 13 degrees in the Serra d'Alfàbia and in Lluc. At the Plaça in Petra and in Manacor the night temperatures were about 15 degrees, the University of Palma (UIB) reported similarly mild values. Along the coast it was noticeably warmer: Calvià and Port de Pollença recorded about 17 degrees, at Capdepera Lighthouse values of up to 22 degrees were measured.

In short: from 10 to 22 degrees, that was the range. No wonder conversations this morning in cafés like the one on Carrer de Sant Miquel swung between “Finally” and “Shame, summer is ending.”

What This Means for Daily Life

For many residents, the cooling meant one thing above all: better sleep. Windows open, fans off. I heard from neighbors who are pulling on blankets for the first time in weeks. In fields around Sineu you could see workers in light jackets, and along the coast walkers wore thin sweaters again.

At the same time, weather services urged caution: showers and thunderstorms are forecast for parts of the island, sometimes with storm warnings. So: pack a jacket, but also don't forget the umbrella if you're out today.

Looking Ahead

The major heatwave is over for now. Still, October often brings many sunny and mild days here — typical autumn midpoints when you need a jacket in the morning and a T-shirt in the afternoon. For those who miss summer: it's not a setback, but a slow change.

Note: If you're looking for the exact list of measurements, AEMET published it today on X. For Mallorca residents one thing is clear: the climate makes the transition noticeable. And we all benefit from calmer nights.
