A quiet autumn day in Palma: mild 18–23 °C, light southwest wind and clouds that give the harbor a relaxed, almost kitsch-free charm. Ideal for market visits and an evening stroll along the Paseo Marítimo.

Cozy October Day in Palma: Clouds, mild wind and perfect mood for city strolls

This morning around eight I was on the Passeig Mallorca. The promenade felt subdued compared to the summer noise: only the quiet clinking of a coffee cup from a bar, occasional conversations and the sharp calls of a few seagulls. A uniform blanket of clouds stretched over the city, but the streets remained dry. No umbrella needed, rather a light jacket — one of those days when you like to stay outside without sweating or freezing.

How warm will it be?

The thermometer indicates a pleasant autumn day: in the morning 18 °C, a daytime maximum of about 23 °C (around 14:00) and around 19 °C again in the evening. Nights remain mild at around 15 °C. It's not the best time for shorts yet, but a walk along the harbor or a cappuccino under an awning are perfectly acceptable today.

Perceived weather and air

What the thermometer shows largely corresponds to what you feel. The feels-like temperature hardly deviates, so no surprises are expected. Humidity is moderate at about 60–65 % — enough so the air isn't bone-dry, but not muggy either. Air pressure is stable at around 1022 hPa, a calm foundation for the day.

Wind, sea and boats

A light southwest wind of about 4–5 m/s (direction approx. 236°) brings fresh scent from the sea. In Portixol the water stays calm, small waves ripple the quay wall — best conditions for a short dinghy trip or a sundowner on the bow of a small yacht next to a fishing boat. Sailors will prefer a light jib; gusty breezes are not on the agenda today.

Rain? Not likely.

The clouds keep the sun at bay, but precipitation is practically ruled out. The chance of rain is close to zero; at most in the afternoon some bright breaks may appear. In short: splashing about is off the table, city strolls are not.

Tips for the day in Palma

The Mercat de l’Olivar hums particularly lively in the morning. Around eleven there's the best selection of fresh fish, olives and tostadas — the scent of roasted bread and espresso mixes with the smell of the sea. A detour to Plaça Major and a croissant on Carrer de Sant Miquel fit well into the program. If you prefer the sea: the harbor and Portixol offer mild conditions; the Paseo Marítimo is perfect for a relaxed afternoon walk. In the evening a light knit cardigan is recommended, as the temperature drops slightly towards sunset.

Why days like this are lovely

Such grey but friendly October days extend the season in a relaxed way: locals breathe easier, tourists can browse without hurry, cafés fill with regulars and curious visitors. And the small irony: it is precisely on cloudy days that the sky occasionally explodes into surprising reds just before dusk — so keep an eye on the promenade. The soft sound of the sea, the clinking of cups in the café and the distant creak of a sailboat are today the sounds that make Palma so charming.

Conclusion: A quiet, unexcited autumn day in Palma — dry, mild and ideal for market visits, harbor strolls and a slow evening walk. No drama, just good weather for good plans.
