For the Christmas season the railway company SFM is running additional services between Palma and Inca — ideal for evening events and Christmas markets.

More trains on Advent weekends

From now until January 4, the railway company SFM is expanding its services on the Palma–Inca line. On all weekends and on the public holidays of December 8 and January 6 additional trains will run — a total of 16 special services, eight in each direction.

When the extra services run

The first special trains leave Palma in the afternoon at 15:25, and the last services are scheduled for 22:25. Conveniently, all additional trains stop at all stations along the route, so commuters from smaller towns can comfortably reach Palma — or vice versa for an evening visit to Inca.

Why the service is offered

The measure coincides with the switching on of the Christmas lights in Palma and weekend events in many inland towns. Especially on cooler evenings — say around 18:00 at Plaça Major, when the lights go on and the mulled wine stalls open — many prefer to take the train rather than manoeuvre by car through narrow old town streets.

Practical information

If you plan a spontaneous trip to the market in Inca or to a light show in Palma, allow a few extra minutes: stations can be a bit busier on weekends. If you travel regularly, it's worth checking the times on the railway company's website in advance — all special services and departure platforms are listed there.

A small practical tip: on chilly evenings the little kiosk at Palma's Estació Intermodal is a good place for a hot coffee before departure. One more thing: the extra trains are scheduled to coordinate well with evening peak flows — ideal for family outings, shopping trips or a visit to the Christmas market.

Conclusion: For the coming weekends SFM has a practical solution. More trains mean fewer parking worries and a more relaxed trip home after an evening in Palma or Inca.
