Aemet expects an above-average warm autumn on Mallorca. The summer was already exceptionally hot â here's what that means for island residents and visitors.
Warm Autumn on Mallorca â what to expect
\nThe Spanish weather authority Aemet predicts a mild autumn: September to November on Mallorca should be warmer than the long-term average. Not sensational, but noticeable â especially when you walk along the promenade in the morning and the cafĂ©s still have outdoor tables.
\n\nHow warm will it really be?
\nAemet anticipates temperatures above average; rainfall is expected to be roughly normal (around 230 liters per square meter over the three months). For us this means: more sunny days, fewer showers, and the usual breeze that often makes the difference here.
\n\nThe past summer was already a foretaste: it ranks among the third-warmest since 1961. Individual maximums climbed over 41 °C, and the nights remained tropical more often â so little cooling at night. This was noticeable in the cities, at the beaches, and in the Tramuntana Mountains.
\n\nEveryday life on the island: small consequences, large impacts
\nIn the harbor a fisherman and a waitress from Palma tell me about longer working hours in the afternoon heat. Families push strolls to the early evening; sun lounger rental operators continue to set up. At the same time, gardeners and winemakers are on watch â dry periods affect harvest plans and irrigation needs.
\n\nFire danger remains an issue. A few degrees can noticeably increase the risk in the coming months. Residents therefore advise vigilance: no embers along the roadside, water canisters in the car, and the municipality keeps the equipment ready.
\n\nTips for the coming weeks
\nIf you are here: don't forget sunscreen, drink enough water, and plan activities in the morning or evening. For hosts: check air conditioning, monitor water usage, and inform guests about changed conditions.
\n\nAll in all: a mild but demanding autumn is ahead. Not a weather miracle, but more like an extension of the summer mood â with consequences that are indeed felt locally.
