The popular Bodega Macia Batle concert series kicks off the new season with chamber music, a piano recital, and Dvořák's Piano Quintet for a memorable mid-morning experience.
Bodega Concerts: Autumn Kickoff at the Bodega
On Sunday, September 28, the historic hall of Macia Batle will once again fill with sound. If you've attended one of these morning concerts before, you know it's not a stiff concert hall, but more of a small gathering of people who enjoy good music and won't turn down good wine. The program length is intentionally compact – ideal for a relaxed cultural morning.
The program, brief and heartfelt
Opening: A string quartet by Mozart, an early work that still carries the scent of his Italian journeys. It is finely crafted, charming, and shows Mozart in a playful, early phase. The musicians, invited by the artistic director Nina Heidenreich, give the piece a breezy, immediate note.
Solo at the piano: Matteo Weber steps on stage with small but concise works. First a Gigue by Mozart (KV 574) – short, clear, like a good espresso in the morning. Then follow the Etudes by Rachmaninoff, which belong to the Études-Tableaux: dense miniatures that tell more than meets the eye at first glance. Sometimes lyrical, sometimes turbulent, with craft and heart.
Finale: After the intermission, a quintet forms for Dvořák's Piano Quintet Op. 81. This work from the late Romantic era is a true lightweight in terms of feeling: melodies that linger; rhythms that drive; a warmth that resonates particularly well in the halls of the Bodega. Those who want to combine the visit with a small wine tasting often have the opportunity afterwards—typical Macia Batle: culture and locality in one go.
Practical
Start is in the morning, doors open about 30 minutes beforehand. Tickets are limited, so it's worth checking the website or calling the winery. For many here on the island, the Bodega concerts are an autumn fixture: good music, happy faces and the special atmosphere of a place that blends wine and sound.
Personally, I like the mix: high art, but without frills. In short: a Sunday to treat both the mind and the palate.
