Autumn brings cool evenings, fragrant coffee and new jewelry impulses. From hair cuffs to metal-mixing — five jewelry ideas that will be seen more often in Mallorca this autumn and fit freshly into everyday life.

Autumn in Mallorca: Small Jewelry, Big Impact

The first cool breath of air in the early morning, the clatter of the stalls at Mercat de l’Olivar and the cloud of hot chocolate over Plaça Major — these are moments that make you want to rethink your outfit. On my walks along Passeig Mallorca and through Santa Catalina I’ve repeatedly noticed the same details in recent days: jewelry that doesn’t shout, but says something. Here are five ideas that suit the island mood well.

1. Hair Cuffs: Simple, Practical, Surprising

A quick bun, the wind starts to whistle — and a small metal cuff makes it all instantly neater. Hair cuffs are practical for everyday life in Mallorca: briefly wrap a band around the strand, done. Models with fine engravings or matte surfaces are particularly beautiful; in the café light they almost sparkle like little stories.

2. Y Necklaces: Subtle 2000s Reminiscence

The Y necklace is quietly returning. Not the flashy version, but delicate chains that complement a V-neck or a simple shirt. On a sunny bench in Santa Catalina I saw a young woman wearing such a piece — it looked like a small, elegant accent, not a statement. Ideal for days when the weather swings between sun and clouds.

3. Colorful Glass Beads: Retro, but Cheerful

At the market next to baskets full of figs and olives I discovered a vendor whose tables exploded with colorful glass beads. They feel nostalgic, but by no means dusty. Glass beads bring color to grey afternoons and pair wonderfully with simple metal chains or knit sweaters — a bit like a warm scarf for the collarbone.

4. Sculptural Jewelry: Jewelry as Miniature Sculpture

Shapes are becoming more pronounced. Wide rings or earrings with unusual silhouettes recall small pieces of architecture. Such pieces work especially well with simple coats on windy autumn days: a single sculptural earring can instantly give a cozy walk along the Passeig a dramatic note.

5. Metal-Mixing: Abolish the Rules

Gold with silver? Yes, please. In Mallorca you increasingly see combinations of gold, silver and stainless steel — often mixed with vintage finds from the flea market. The result feels urban and unpretentious. If you stand in front of your wardrobe in the morning and can’t decide, feel free to throw everything together. The mix tells more about the wearer than a perfectly matched set.

My tip: Saturday around 11 a.m. the flea market at the Plaça is lively. Wear a neutral outfit, go with no expectations and try one of these pieces on right away. Sometimes it’s just a ring or a necklace that changes how people look at you — and how you see yourself. Jewelry here on the island should be fun, tell little stories and make the mild autumn evenings a bit more colorful.
