A brief drizzle swept through Cala Rajada after the hot August: fresh air, slower fishing boats and content walkers along the promenade.

A short drizzle – and suddenly everything smells of the sea and freshly washed pavement

In the late afternoon a short but welcome rain front passed over Cala Rajada. No thunderstorm drama, no stormy gusts — rather a fine misty rain that put the August heat on hold for a few hours. CafĂ© awnings rattled softly, espresso cups sat still, and from the Calle Cala Agulla the sound of splashing puddles mixed with the steady chugging of the fishing boats in the harbor.

How the numbers describe the new everyday

Temperatures: During the day the thermometer only rose to around 26.5 °C, at night it fell to about 22.8 °C, and in the morning readings were a pleasant ~24.8 °C. No oppressive humidity or sweat outbreaks — ideal for a stroll along the harbor or a coffee outdoors.

Humidity & pressure: The air felt noticeably more humid, humidity climbed to about 76%, and air pressure is around 1009 hPa. Nothing alarming, but enough moisture for the air to feel richer than it did in the morning.

Wind, clouds, umbrella?

The wind was light to moderate from north-northeast, with individual gusts reaching around 10 m/s. That was enough for the beach umbrellas at the bars to flutter now and then and to spray a fine mist onto the promenade. Cloud cover remained dense; local observers estimated roughly a two-thirds chance of further showers. Tip for visitors: a light rain jacket or a small umbrella won't hurt if you plan to be out for a while.

Some dive boats remained moored in the harbor, and safety checks were carried out thoroughly rather than quickly. The fishermen kept a slower pace, their nets still glistening from the rain. Children ran happily to the puddles in front of the church and laughed as the water splashed up — a familiar scene, as if the short shower had been made just for them.

For the night most residents expect mild temperatures – ideal for leaving windows open and letting in the fresh sea air. Air conditioning units will often stay off today; instead you can hear the distant cry of a seagull and the soft dripping from roofs.

All in all: no weather alarm, but a small reset. After a hot August such a drizzle is like a short breather for both people and the town. The streets look cleaner, the air clearer, and the promenades invite you to walk again. For coffee drinkers, neighbors and anyone who prefers the sea at a pleasant freshness, today is a good day.

Practical: If you're coming to Cala Rajada now, pack light rain gear, wave to the fishermen in the harbor and plan an evening walk along Calle Cala Agulla. The island has done its little summer clean-up — and it smells a bit like freedom.
