A balmy evening at the Lobster Club: Yvonne Struzek turns the beach club into a runway, models from around the world present understated summer fashion, and Michelin-starred chef Sascha Lenz serves small luxury moments between pool and harbor lights.

Fashion by the Sea: an Evening with a Palpable Atmosphere

When I arrived at the Lobster Club in Puerto Portals that early evening, the breeze carried the scent of sea and fried prawns. Strings of lights glittered above the pool; in the background a DJ mixed classical tones with pop riffs — an unhurried soundtrack that calmed the pulse rather than stirred it. Just right for a show that wanted to combine calm and style.

From the Runway Straight to the Harbor View

Host Yvonne Struzek had arranged the beach club so that the catwalk almost organically merged with the terrace: models walked, turned and seemed to float between tables and palms. The collection remained largely restrained: chocolate and cream tones, cool gray, clean cuts. A coat over a bikini, a pastel men's cut — pieces you can wear without drama, that work on the beach just as well as at the boat dock.

Carolina, a model from Colombia, stood out with her sunny smile. On her a simple dress appeared both feminine and unobtrusive. Beside her, men with large leather bags — a bit casual, very wearable. And in the middle: Esther Schweins, who charmingly hosted, told small anecdotes and gave the evening a salon-ready note — like a familiar voice greeting visitors and neighbors.

Cuisine Between Bites and Mini-Luxury

The food was more than finger food. Michelin-starred chef Sascha Lenz served mini prawn cocktails, crispy croquetas, fried calamari and scallops in a green-sprayed sauce where the last grain of salt popped like a small fireworks salute. In between, brief appearances by caviar and smoked salmon — island moments on small plates that encouraged conversation and kept eyes returning to the pool.

Later, cocktails were poured at the pool edge. The crescent moon hung low over the bay, the silhouette of Illa d’en Sales visible as a dark smudge. The chirping of cicadas mixed with the light clinking of glasses — a typical Mallorca scene that hardly needs photographing because it's so beautiful in person.

Global Thinking, Locally Rooted

Yvonne and her team had brought together brands from Australia, Scandinavia and France. The pieces looked international but felt at home on the island: restrained elegance meets Mallorcan summer. It wasn't big flashbulb spectacle, rather an evening for people seeking enjoyment without alarm. Laughter, an enthusiastic 'wow' during the final walk — the mood stayed relaxed.

What stood out: no rigid champagne frenzy, no over-the-top glamour. Instead an attitude that suits Mallorca well: down-to-earth elegance with a touch of luxury, without showing off. Guests chatted; some were already planning to spend their next evening by the sea in a similar way.

Why Evenings Like This Matter

Such events are more than nice footnotes in the events calendar. They show that the island can organically combine fashion, gastronomy and sea views — without one element overpowering the others. For local service providers and creative minds these are opportunities: collaborations, visibility and the chance to position Mallorca as a place for relaxed, high-quality events.

At the end of the evening I left the club with the feeling of having rediscovered something familiar: the ability to take time, to look, to eat and to keep the sea in sight. Whether you're a fashion fan or simply enjoy sitting outdoors — such summer evenings stay in the mind, at least until the next season. And that's a good thing.
