Sóller in the Drizzle: A Mild, Wet Autumn Day (12 Oct 2025)
Not a storm, more autumn atmosphere: On October 12 it is raining steadily in Sóller and temperatures remain mild. A walk between Plaça Constitució and Carrer de sa Lluna is worthwhile — with an umbrella.
Sóller on October 12: Umbrella instead of storm squalls
If you stroll through Sóller's old town this morning, you won't hear the howling of a Tramuntana storm but the soft patter of raindrops on the terracotta roofs. On the Plaça Constitució a few guests still sit under awnings with fragrant coffee and a blanket over their legs — a typical, calm autumn day up here (see Sóller en llovizna: un día otoñal templado y húmedo (12 de octubre de 2025)). It's not weather for adventures at sea, but perfect for slow looks down the alleys and the contented squeak of wet shop fronts.
Temperatures: Mild and gentle
Measurements show a cool night with a low of 17.7 °C and a daytime high of around 24.3 °C. Mornings start at just under 18 °C, by midday the thermometer reaches its peak, and in the afternoon it falls back to about 21 °C. The difference to summer: the air feels fresher because there is hardly any wind — no big cold shock, rather a muted, pleasant climate for walking.
Air pressure, humidity and wind
Air pressure is about 1021 hPa, humidity is noticeably higher than in dry months at roughly 58 %. The wind is light from the northeast at about 2.7 m/s, with gusts rarely exceeding 4 m/s. That means: no large waves off the coast, but visibility at sea can be reduced by drizzle. If you are in Port de Sóller you will notice the steady splashing rather than churned spray; for a similar mild, drizzly day see Sóller on October 6, 2025: Drizzle in the Morning, Mild Hours in the Afternoon.
Chance of rain and advice
The probability of rain today is effectively 100 %. It is persistent drizzle with occasional slightly heavier phases. Tip for locals and visitors: move activities indoors — the small museum on Carrer de sa Lluna is perfect now, or enjoy an extended coffee break watching the wet cobbles, as in Light Drizzle in Sóller: Oranges, Tram and the Scent of Coffee on a Mild October Afternoon. The historic Tram de Sóller to Port de Sóller is running as scheduled, but there may be slight delays; the tram's bell sounds a bit muffled today.
Drivers should take care on the MA-11 toward the coast: curves are wet and grip is reduced. If you're out early, keep headlights on and maintain a safe distance. Boaters should be aware of reduced visibility, but rough seas are not expected at the moment.
Little weather ABC for the day
- Pack a compact umbrella — light drizzle is persistent.
- Wear something a bit warmer under your jacket; temperatures are mild but damp.
- Enjoy the scent of wet pines: in the Tramuntana the rain mixes with pine aromas and damp stone — a typical October scent.
In short: no reason to panic, rather to pause. Sóller shows its calm side today: quiet rain, muted colors on façades and palms, and residents strolling through puddles at ease. Those planning a cozy day will now find more space in cafés and museums — and photographers can capture particularly melancholic-beautiful motifs.
So: umbrella at hand, comfortable shoes on, and follow the small, wet charm of a Mallorcan October day. The Tramuntana stays in the background, and the town remains more charming than ever.
