The club between Magaluf and El Toro celebrated its tenth anniversary – with a sporty morning and a lively party in the evening. A retrospective from the perspective of an island resident.
A round birthday that smelled of fresh-cut grass
Saturday morning, 9:30 a.m.: On the grounds between Magaluf and El Toro, activity buzzed as if the course had woken from its Sleeping Beauty slumber. Members rolled in with trolleys, some still wearing sunscreen, others with the calm of people who have already seen their first tea three times today. It was the day that T Golf Calvià celebrated its tenth anniversary – sporty in the morning, social in the evening.
Morning: Fairways, Laughter, Small Victories
The anniversary tournament started on time; flights moved across the course in small groups, at some greens people stood close together to discuss the perfect putt. I saw a club member searching for his ball for minutes – only to find it behind a bush; applause and gentle laughter included. After the round, people gathered in the clubhouse: a quick lunch, the usual congratulations, and a small award for the best players.
Evening: Champagne, Sea Breeze and Music
Around 7:30 p.m., the rooftop terrace filled up. About 200 guests arrived, some in light summer dresses, others in shirts and no ties — typically relaxed here. Instead of stiff etiquette there were champagne bottles, long conversations and a buffet that offered everything from oysters to sushi to mini burgers. A new corner with local tapas disappeared surprisingly quickly.
Live music created a pleasant, not pushy mood; many later headed to the dance floor. You recognized familiar faces from other clubs, couples, young families and expats – a mix that made the evening feel relaxed and genuine.
Atmosphere and a few observations
What remained with me was the sense that such a club is not just a golf course: it is a meeting place, a stage and a canteen all in one. Between champagne glasses and conversations about handicap you could hear the sea in the distance — a reminder that we live on an island where even a tennis match or a tournament can quickly become a small festival.
Whether you came to play golf or to celebrate, the day showed that in ten years a course can develop that connects more than just sporting results. And yes: the next morning there were perhaps a few too many shoes in the grass on the parking lot—but that comes with it.
Those who don’t want to miss the next anniversary date will miss a good mix of sport, socializing, and Mallorcan lightness.
