A Week on Foot: From Sarria to Santiago – and You Can Join

\n

Anyone between 18 and 30 who longs for real wanderlust should mark the date in their calendar: From October 7 to 13, the Mallorca Council is organizing for the first time a youth hike on the final stretch of the Camino de Santiago. The starting point is Sarria, the destination Santiago de Compostela – seven days, pilgrim atmosphere, many kilometers and a backpack full of stories.

What’s included and how much does it cost?

\n

Thanks to funding, the participation fee remains reasonable: Participants pay around 200 euros. And yes — that sounds like luck: flight from Palma, accommodations, meals on the way, and luggage transport are already included. So anyone who brings only their hiking boots, a few changes of shirts, and good mood is set.

Registration: Attention, Start at Midnight

\n

Registration opens tonight at midnight and is possible until September 16. Places are limited. Experience shows such offers fill up quickly—so don’t hesitate if you want to join. The age limit: 18 to 30 years.

Practical & Expectations

\n

The Camino section from Sarria is popular, there are many hostels and pilgrim paths, but don’t underestimate the stages: Each day can mean several hours of hiking. Pack weatherproof clothing – October on the Iberian Peninsula can bring early fog or a light shower. Good shoes are mandatory. Meeting point and exact departure times will be communicated to participants after registration; typically return flights depart from Santiago or Madrid with connections.

Why participate?

\n

Because it’s a mix of adventure, community, and time for yourself. You walk, talk, listen, and eat together. Some come for spirituality, others for the experience with peers – both are fine. For many, a week like this becomes a real keepsake of memories.

If you have questions: inquire directly with the offices of the Mallorca Council. And plan to enjoy the view shortly before Santiago – it’s worth the moment.
